1001 Countdown :-) on wcbsfm

:) This Is Awesome!!! I am hearing songs I hardly ever hear. I love when they did it the countdown in July and now the Labor day one. They should do this every 3 months :) I love "Gypsy Woman" Brian Hyland.

If they did this often, I bet it would be #1 again!!! do you agree?

Mary, when I like a hit, I don't care what number it is. I have been listening intermitantly since it began on Thursday. It is nice to hear records not played in the normal rotation. The station is teasing the audience by saying that there will be a new number one. If I am not listening when it is played, I can always see it on the web site tomorrow.

I used to have the single.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

I'm sure if the Number 1 song was "Rag Doll" by Aerosmith, the natives would surely be restless... ::)

where was "River Deep Mountain High" by the 70s Supremes & the 4 Tops?...lol

It was #302. Personally I like the Ike and Tina Turner version better even though it did not chart in the USA. It was #1 in the UK

At least something finished ahead of "Don't Stop Believing".

I somehow imagine that half of the Michael Jackson songs on the countdown wouldn't be there (or as high ranked) if he was still alive.

as Rag doll the #1 song. Its a good song, been a favorite of a four seasons song of mine. I was not one of my 5 songs that I posted. As I always said you can not please everyone, always someone that is not happy!! I thought since Johnny Maestro died, #1 song would be "the worst that could happen" Last time it was a Michael Jackson song and he just died. I still enjoyed all the songs and you can download them on wcbsfm.com!!! enjoy!!!

Jean Terrell's flawless vocal on "River Deep" can't be topped;
the same is true of her takes on "Stoned Love", "Up The Ladder To The Roof" and "Nathan Jones"(which was covered in the 80s by Bananarama),all NY hits for the 70's Supremes...
just checked out the chart..."Walk On The Wild Side" by Lou Reed..wow...seeing as how this was banned by 77WABC MusicRadio although it was a monster NY hit and was just outside the national Billboard Top Ten...better late than never

I listened for awhile too. There were some pretty old tunes in there - old Drifters, Chubby Checker, definitely some Supremes - nice countdown to be sure.

When I was on my way back, the #1 song in the Top 1001 Labor Day songs is none other than "Rag Doll" by the Four Seasons. I remember the #1 song in the Top 500 was "In the Still of the Nite" by the 5 Satins, and it's sell a favorite oldie of all time.

I have to check the list to see if any of the five songs I voted for made the countdown. SO if you heard "Chick-A-Boom" by Daddy Dewdrop - yep, that was my suggestion.

A little late here on this, but I want to salute CBS-FM on the incredible job they have been doing since the return from Jack. The weekend and holiday specialties are truly spectacular, such as this Top 1001, A to Z and others. The daily Hall of Fames are a plus too! The Sunday night countdowns are an added bonus to listeners.

CBS-FM: Keep up the incredible job you are doing and continue playing classics hits from that huge music library of yours!! There's nothing, absolutely nothing better than a station that pleases its audience with the huge selection of music it has to offer. Many stations cannot claim this fact. YOU guys at CBS-FM, have it all....hands down!

WCBS is #1
