101.1 FM News - Now Streaming!

I've tried to listen, but to no avail. It's just bad.

If programming to women means giving news at a 3rd grade level, that's pretty sad. And it's oh-so-obvious that this is what they're doing. Listen to the voice overs in liners and promos. Not much different than the ones you hear on ads for Midol or Tampax. :D :p ;D

All joking aside, it's still pretty rough. I honestly don't see how this experiment will work. Any women who are serious enough to have an interest in news are serious enough to want to hear it presented professionally (as WBBM does) and not like a John Tesh vignette (as WWWN does). Just my 0.02. And I take no pleasure in saying this because I like that they've hired so much top local talent. Local radio is something that we should support. But, so far, this is not gelling.

That station is just plain horrible.....zzzzzzzz

Aw, c'mon! They sound great for a 100-watt college station in rural Nebraska. What? They're in Chicago? The #3 media market? On a full-powered FM stick? Nevermind. ;D

I understand the stream is down at this hour... Technical maintenance? Talent maintenance? Both? Neither? ???

The Chicago station isn't as bad as the one in NYC. On FM News 101.9, after each segment there is a 3-8 second pause before the anchor starts talking, not to mention the anchors on their sound like they have no experience. However, I give them credit for at least giving hurricane coverage.

This would be their time to get it going (if they can) as the audience should pick up this weekend.

FM News 101.1 got a 0.5 rating for August. UNBELIEVABLE! But are we surprised????

All that means is that the "Chocolate Radio" stunt chased off the Q101 audience, which is what they wanted. It's way too early to be making pronouncements about the format. Beavis and Butt-Head music will not be coming back to 101.1 FM any time soon.
