101.1 HD2 50's and 60's?

It's very quiet about 101.1 HD2. In other markets, for example Dallas and LA. The greatest hits stations use this HD2 channel for playing 50's and 60's music on it. So this is a change for CBS FM to play this also on there channel. The jack-type format what's on at the moment, it's very boring and is changeless. So CBS FM, do something nice with this channel please, old CBS FM jingles including the music from that period. That would be great.

I think when CBS-FM could no longer use "JACK" as its branding for its HD-2, PD Brian Thomas made a statement committing the HD-2 format to the variety / '80's-based Adult Hits format which now airs on 101.1 WCBS-FM HD-2, even though it would no longer be called "JACK." As much as I would like to see 101.1-2 do classic oldies, plan on the current format sticking around for at least a little while longer.

Let's hope if all of the 50's and early 60's should end up on its HD-2 channel and bring back some of the reverb that CBS-FM used to sound a long time ago when Joe McCoy was still a PD at CBS-FM at that time where he does the reverb its own unique sound.

Remember, back in April, "Jack" was pronounced dead on the scene, they killed "Jack" and Howard Cogan is gone into heaven above, Howard Cogan sucks and the "Jack" name sucks a--! Sorry for the cursing like the AVGN.

Let's bring back some pre-64 goodies on its HD-2 channel in the near future.

From an older post of mine - http://www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,99148.msg773645.html#msg773645

They just dropped the JACK branding because the syndicator (Sparknet) did not want the brand to be on an HD2 or streaming-only station.

...WCBS-FM PD BRIAN THOMAS confirms to ALL ACCESS, "It's gone from HD2, with a new name coming. The format is more of an 80's based Adult Hits format than JACK."

...

THOMAS liked it though, adding, "We were happy with the JACK FM name and it's one of the top 5 streaming HD2 channels at CBS RADIO."

I couldn't agree anymore with you WCBS-FM HD-2 needs to be the old WCBS-FM as we remember it. I don't see how this would be a problem for the classic hits format, its very simple if you what to listen to 1965-1989 put on HD-1 if you want to listen to 1950-1964 HD-2 not rocket science folks.

Absolulty sure, b.t.w. K-Earth 101 Los Angeles and KLUV Dallas are simular stations as CBS FM, and this stations have HD2 channels with 50's and 60's. The other station in Dallas, Jack FM have an adult standards format on there HD2 channel, named The Strip with music from Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. etc.

Nobody will ever listen to HD, but it's nice to have the classics on an internet stream.

But honestly, listening to exclusively pre-64 or post-64 can get pretty dull. I'd prefer a good balance of all eras on one "live," non-automated station. Variety is the spice of life.

Thanks for clarifying. I know I had read that some time in the recent past, but didn't remember where. Funny how the "new name" has still not surfaced.

Thats a pretty bold statement don't you think!!! Speak for yourself as far as HD-radio is concerned I believe that it will become more popular as soon as they fix the problems and offer better programming on there HD-2 channels like what this thread has suggested for WCBS-FM. Let's face it I think I can speak for all when I say MOST people would love to see WCBSFM return to the original Joe McCoy programming golden years even if that means that they would broadcast on WCBS-FM HD-2. Call me crazy but one of the only reasons that I purchased a HD radio in 2006 was only because of WCBS-FM and I have to say I love it.
