101.1 Jack Changes?

Has anyone noticed any slight changes on Jack? And of course, I'm not talking about the music... I've noticed more liners just saying "This is (the new) 101.1 Jack" with no repartee or anything. I even once heard a liner that said, "Music intensive, listener friendly". Now, that may have been sarcastic, or have a different meaning, but given the changes I've just laid out, you've got to wonder if this is a "Plan B" executed by Infinity to try and steer clear the good ship Jack 101.1.<P ID="signature">______________

Then again that is only one sweeper it may not signal an entirely different approach however. The jack presntation is completely "snarky" (great word) that has been part of it's.........charm. However in the case of Jack NY since there was such a hue and cry over it's taking the place of the beloved comfortable old shoe that was CBS FM, you may be right, they may have thought it better to not be so in your face about the fact that " we blew up your favorite station and now we play what we want and insult you in the process"

I don't know how JACK is presented in other markets, but if you listen to the original internet-based JACK (www.jack.fm), you will find there is no attitude at all, just a nice, diverse mix of music.

The internet based Jack does play a nice mix of music. I do like the mix on the LA Jack too. If the New York Jack is going to lean towards rock, the 80's were not the best years to pick from. I'd stick with the more alternative bands from the 80's and leave off the hair bands.

Still way off the mark for NYC as a music market. New Yorkers seem, based on decades of listener preference, to like two things from their music radio stations in no particular order; 1)a rhythmic emphasis to the music rather than hard rock or heavy metal, and 2)presentation by warm, witty and likable personalities.
Jack's missing on both counts, so the fact that both cume and AQH have dropped by more than 50% is no accident. And it's not going to get better. The tweaking you hear now may well be an attempt to stop or at least slow the bleeding. Major formatic surgery may be forthcoming...
