101.1 WNOE Question for MacGyver504

Hey MacGyver504:

Thank you for your help on my question on WNOE-FM.

You said "WNOE signed on as a Country station in 1968. It was automated and voice tracked by Dan Diamond."

Question: would you know did that automated country format last till 1973 when WNOE went AOR?

Thanks.

T.J

I don't remember if it was voice tracked the whole time but is WAS country until one morning I heard "Knocking on Heaven's Door" by Dylan and I said to myself "this is not Country."
There were liners under the new AOR format that said "all things must pass"

I may have tapes of some of that stuff.

MacGyver504:

Thanks for the reply!! You really filled in a big blank for me on the history of WNOE-FM.

It is strange to see a station go from it's original format (country) to another format (AOR) back to it's original format again (country). I can't recall any station in the US ever doing that.

Would you happen to remember when in 1973 the change happened?

Thanks again for your help.

T.J.
