Will 101.5 FREE FM Will flip format after doing bad in the ratings?

My idea for 101.5 for a new Hip-Hop station design to kick out KISS-FM out of the ratings, Maybe 101.5 JACK FM DJ Free format with Howard Corgan automatic voice, Top 40 Pop Contemporary Hit Radio known as 101.5 KRIZ-FM, Maybe a new modern rock station as 101.5 K-Rock and keep Tom Leykis on Afternoon drive with the new format or New Adult Contemporary format known as Fresh 101.5.

You--or rather CBS--will first need permission from KRIZ 1420 Renton WA
to use the calls on FM. (No, you can't call Danny Davis at KOY 1230
for the rights.)

I'm sure if CBS offered a nice honorarium from the, uh, Imus Lawsuit Fund,
KRIZ might allow it. ;D

Why does everyone seem to hate KISS FM... the other post talked about Movin and Power teaming up to form "two places where hip hop lives".

If Free FM flips, I hope not to a format like KISS... there is too much of that already!

Free-FM is, unfortunately, not going anywhere for awhile. CBS Radio has a long history of holding on to bad concepts for a lengthy period of time... look at Jack-FM (WCBS New York), it consistently draws about a 1 share and yet it is still on the air, because CBS Radio is hemorrhaging money and stations like "Jack" are cheap to run.

All of your suggestions--aside from a real alt rock format, are pretty much not plausible at all. We already have 1 hip-hop station and another semi-hip-hop station that claims to be CHR (KZZP). Jack, as I said, is a ratings disaster.... "it's like your iPod on shuffle", no it's not, my iPod has good music on it without commercials and an annoying voice telling me how great my music is.

CBS killed the Free-FM name on WCKG in Chicago last week, so it may just be a matter of time before they do it here and elsewhere.

Is Phoenix ready for an urban AC? Majik failed but that's been 4 - 5 years ago, right? Is now the time?

I would think that Free is going to stay for a while. To much cost in a flip, significantly more than just keeping it the way it is and tweaking it a little.

The problem with Mega 104.3/99.3 is its signal. If you cant get a quality signal you cant get an audience. Urban AC is needed in this market- with a signal so you can enjoy it.

If a great signal was all you needed, then Free FM would have more than a 2 share. That stick is and has always been one of the strongest signals in the market, and yet for some reason, success has mostly eluded the stations that have occupied that frequency.
