101.5 goes AAA

KTNI drops it's standards format and becomes Martini 101.5, basically becoming another Starbucks Rock station.

Seriously, does Denver need this? Even a AAA fan will see this as overkill, you already have 97.3 and even 102.3 recently joined the fray.
 
AAA is kind of like regional Mexican in that it has several different formats that encompass it. So, you could have several AAA stations with very little, if any, overlap in their playlists. I've listened to KBCO, and I've heard KCUV online. The two were far more different than alike. KBCO tended to be more of a rock station while KCUV focused more on Americana and folk. KCUV also had a much larger playlist. I haven't heard KTNI, but it could be completely different from both stations.

That doesn't mean Denver needs the format. If it doesn't get enough listeners, Denver doesn't need it. However, I don't think it's necessarily overkill because it may not be a duplicated format.
 
KCUV barely maintains a 1 share 12+. They don't have a city grade signal. KTNI has even less of a city grade signal. While it's true that AAA and AC music are popular in the Denver area, I don't see how such a station with a signal better aimed at rural Colorado can pull even a 1 share.

Huh? Sounds more like the name for an Adult Standards station, doesn't it?
EDIT: Or did you mispost the part about "becomes"?

Shoot Denver area has 2 AAA stations, now 3? Send some of that signal to LA and Orange County!! :D

I have listened a lot to KCUV oinline over the years starting when they were on 1510 AM. They have really evolved from pretty much pure Americana to closer to a typical AAA mix leaning country rock and a few Americana artists thrown in for good measure. Don't like KBCO too generic sounding and not a real good stream.

The company is apparently on shakey financial ground. I'm actually quite surprised they haven't gone dark. If they can't solve the Chap 11 issue quickly and get a major infusion of sustainable ad revenue .... ... hmmmmm.
 
I guess they got locked out of their websites because of the lack of paying because both of the websites have the old format
