101.5 is...

taking some chances with their music and I think it sounds fantastic. Very daring yet familiar all at once. They're not KTCL or KBCO but I can see them pulling listeners away from both stations because they play way more adventurous new music while going deep on the alternative 'oldies'. While the music has changed the signal may still kill them because it is dreadful. I just lose them, totally, at I-25 and Alameda.

I was listening to the stream on a Saturday night, as opposed to getting a life. I like their imaging, as it seems they know they are there for a good time, not a long time. I had a bit of a chuckle at some liners.

What are some good examples?

When heard them in June...they sounded like a cross between KBCO, KTCL and Alice.

I like some of their picks but I don't understand why they have to play the active KBPI styled rock. I don't see the connection between Apocalyptica, Staind and Echo and the Bunnymen.

What 101.5 are you listening to? A different one than the one I heard last night. I havent even heard of Apocalyptica let alone hear them on the station. Echo and the Bunnymen, yes. And no Staind either. Are you sure you're not confusing them with KTCL who plays those bands?

Ruth, their current playlist on their website states the following bands are in rotation:

Apocalyptica - I Don't Care f/Adam Gontier

Staind - Believe

Linkin Park - Leave Out All

Paramore - CrushCrushCrush

Rehab - Sittin' At The Bar

Now, if 101.5 is still playing those bands along with the "true alternative" and indie as opposed to being pure alternative/modern rock, then I would question why.

This is like a tennis match we're having Jimmy! Their Top 10 on the site makes no mention of those bands (Death Cab, Dressy Bessy, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, the Swayback and more). I see where you're getting your info though. The playlist was last updated on Oct 9th, so a month ago you were right. And I wasnt listening to them then. Anyway, you should listen and decide for yourself whether I'm right about them being way more adventurous in their musical choices.
