Noticed that 101.5 The Truth has added a local flavor of sorts to their lineup.
If you head to their website you'll see that they have introduced Broncos pre and post game coverage with veteran and controversial talker Dino Costa at the helm. See here> http://truthdenver.com/on-air/15-dino-costa.html
Westword covered this too> http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/2009/08/dino_costa_joins_the_truth.php
I like this move simply because if for nothing else it should allow them to bring in a series of listeners who would otherwise not known about the station being sports fans and all. To my knowledge they have not rolled out any advertising yet.
On his first show this past Sunday (Costa is doing a 3 hour pre game show & a 2 hour post game show) he mentioned that the programs during the regular season would be broadcast from Hotel VQ right across the parking lot from Invesco Field, and that he would also be having a former popular Broncos player as a sort of co-host.
101.5 is also broadcasting Nebraska football this season (bad move imo). They will probably fill their weekends up with brokered block programs eventually, this is pretty smart as a way to get some dough rolling through the doors.
As for Dino Costa, he's a talented guy behind a microphone and you either love him or hate him, it will be interesting to see where this all goes down the line. They do need local though. What station doesn't?
