101.9, a pirate?

As I work near the Miami Airport, I have found a station broadcasting on 101.9 FM. After listening to it for a few hours each night over the past week, I have not heard a single radio jock, advertising, or any identification. Being that I live in the North Dade area, I don't pick up the signal until I reach around 95th street on I-95.

They are playing a select list of 90's hip-hop and the songs repeat about every 2-3 hours, but not in the same order. Any ideas?

Did you happen to notice whether they are content edited.

Last week, while at work, I actually heard someone speak.

Unknowingly, we had the radio on. I had thought we turned it down as we were a little busy dealing with customer issues. However, just after midnite, someone came on and apologized for being down as they were doing an equipment repair/upgrade. They did not announce any call letters but announced themselves as Jukebox radio and broadcasting out of Coral Gables.

Any ideas? I thought all stations had to identify themselves once an hour.

It turns out, what you are hearing is not a pirate, but a legit station. It's a major translator move from Orlando 94.9 to Miami at 101.9 and placed on a Miami skyscraper.

This station is being discussed on this currently active RD thread Two-New-Translators-in-Miami. This is something that poster ai41 picked up on. He stated that W235CJ will translate WOCN. This is 1450 AM owned by Salem Media Group, "through licensee Caron Broadcasting." You can read up on WOCN at their website HERE and on Wikipedia and Radio Locator HERE.

What I am hearing on channel 270 is not WOCN,
unless it is the one that is custom crafted for "The Cape",
and their signal is not coming from where W235CJ will be.
