Listening here on the pop-up player, sounds fine. Unfortunately, the first story I heard was the stale Robin Quivers accident story, with a soundbite that didn't come up(!), updated with "news" of a later minor accident involving "our own Sara Lee Kessler ... thankfully, she's fine."

Yeah I was listening and noticed the soundbite not playing... seems like the tech issues are still there (that were mentioned prior to them streaming)... something like a sound bite is simple to get right.. don't know why their having so many problems.

Apparently you've never done a new studio build-out... tech problems happen on a shoestring budget, or on a multi-million dollar budget. AudioVault Flex is a perfect example. We had non-stop issues with it the first 6 months it was rolled out.

Listen, it all comes down to this: You can't call a station dead on less than a month of evidence... especially not an all-local spoken word station like this. Show me the last 100% local spoken word station built from scratch. WEMP didn't have the benefit of an existing news room, an existing AM station, or ANY existing operation or infrastructure. I say kudos to these guys for trying something new, and not wimping out in NYC. If it sounds the same in a year, then you can crap on it.

Not crapping on it at all. Actually, I think it will do just fine ratings-wise, even in "too hip for this" New York City. As others have mentioned, the demo this station is targeting is an advertiser's dream. It doesn't need 12+ blockbuster numbers to get the advertising ball rolling, just respectable numbers in 25-44 female.

101.9 FM News livestream is still unlistenable, lots of level problems. I have my hand on my volume knob everytime to handle these level problems. Sometimes it's too loud, sometimes too soft. This is not working for me. They haven't found a cheap or free limiter/compressor to fix these issues i guess? Unbelievable...
B.T.W. the 101.1 FM News Chicago feed sound a lot better as in level issues, not in sound quality still.

This appears to be the URL:

Ah, a RealPlayer URL... Is it 1999? I agree with a previous poster in that they should have remained with StreamTheWorld. I also saw that the "direct link" from the player page has an extension of, not ".m3u" but ".m3u8." Which appears to work just as ".m3u" does, but it's just weird seeing a four-character extension... let alone a six-character (".stream") extension... Go figure...

Can get it working right, only in the VLC player. Still not working in Winamp or other normal audio player.

Mmm, both streams (NYC and Chicago) are down. I hope they fix that horrible level and sound quality problem right now.

Streams working again but....still no level improvements...how hard can it be to resolve this! ???
Even 101.9's on-air signal has lots of level problems. The traffic reporters are often at a MUCH lower level than the in-studio hosts, until the audio processor's AGC gradually makes up the difference and "fades in" their voice to the proper level.

Strange because that is also how it sounds online at the moment...

Hurricane Irene nocking on the door and finaly WEMP fix there sound quality on the livestream. Also imaging are in stereo. Sounds fine, processed and all levels are ok. Thumps up ;-)
