101.9 sounding better

It's been about a month since I traveled up to NYC (I live in Atlantic County NJ) and I was listening to "FM News" when I got closer to NYC. I have to admit they are sounding better in that short time, but they need better sports. The guy who was doing sports sounded like he was old and just read a bunch of things like he didn't care or didn't know what he was reading. The best was the traffic. I listened to WINS that morning and they said the Holland Tunnel was 20 minutes and never mentioned the Turnpike delay. However 101.9 said the Holland Tunnel was 27-30 minutes but worse from the Turnpike, so I used the Skyway approach like their guy said and I timed it and it took me 28 minutes! The only thing he didn't tell me was where to park (cost be $40 what a ripoff). I remember Jeff McKay when he was on 101.5. I don't know how he does it but he's the best. Even better, when I called their number to report traffic and to comment they put me right through to him, so I actually got to thank him personally! Whenever I go to NYC (although not too often) he now has a loyal listener.

They still have occasional bumps in the road. I've heard promos for upcoming segments air immediately after the segment aired, I've heard segments get cut off due to ill timing for a hard break (i.e., traffic on the 5's).

I actually end up listening to them on the way to work as station local to me offers nothing to keep my interest in the morning.

If Merlin want to stay in the all-news business wouldn't they have to cross promote themselves with a local TV Affiliates they signed contracts with. Look at WINS and WCBS they can just get somebody from WCBS 2 to appear on 1010 Wins or WCBS 880 for some stories or any CBS all-News radio with a CBS TV O&O would do what 1010 WINS and WCBS 880 does. Or in the Case of KGO-AM Cumulus in San Francisco they get somebody from Disney ABC O&O KGO-TV to appear on KGO-AM for certain stories. Or in the case of KOMO-FM and KOMO-AM in Seattle they get somebody from KOMO-TV to do a report for them.
