So 1,200,000 people is "no one," I guess. If you really want nobody to listen, then go to dance.

How did you get 1.2 mil? I calculated 443,000 or so.

Actually, in the Spring book that came out yesterday, the cume for WQCD was 1.25 million in the NY MSA.

CD 101.9 can certainly keep it Smooth

"Smooth Jazz" is one of the few music formats for older people that doesn't carry oldies baggage. It also has dual appeal to blacks as well as whites.

On the day CBS-FM returned to oldies (7/12), CD 101.9 played "At Last" by Etta James in the 10 AM hour. That song stood out on CD 101.9 even with the quiet signal processing. If a vocal hit fits in with the jazz cuts CD 101.9 won't be afraid to play it.

Incidentally, CD 101.9 hasn't been a problem for Emmis Broadcasting. Sister station 98.7 Kiss FM reportedly had a revenue shortfall in the spring quarter.
