Is it me or is the Rose sounding more Hot ACish recently? I love the sound of them and think they are the best in central PA. I live in Delaware (Newark to be exact) and listen to them on the computer all the time.

I like the variety and different music than most AC stations play, they are not boring or predictable.

;)

The Rose "surprisingly" has developed into quite a station. I say surprisingly because Hall isn't exactly the greatest company in the world. Still, they have a quality morning show and the company who consults them has mapped out a great strategy. It obviously has been noticed by Cumulus because WARM 103's music has also gotten hotter since they took over.

I totally agree with you because up to The Rose I have never heard of Hall Communications.

WARM 103 just does not have the great sound as the Rose. :p They can try to imitate it, but only one can do it right and that is them. They sound like a "typical" AC station where the Rose branches out which is the best part of them.

Might I add the lunch bunch trivia is real cool and also the morning show is great!!!

Now we just need in a few weeks Rob Thomas's new song "Streecorner Symphony" on The Rose, now that will be hot!!!

Ok, cool!!! I say everyone let's enjoy 101 The Rose!!! After all, they are the best AC station in country, IMHO!!! Of course, not everyone would say that, but then again I am not everyone!!!

How does one tell a good AC from a bad AC? Is it like, a station who plays more Michael Bolton and Celine Dion is better than one that might lean more towards Shakira and Rob Thomas? And Kenny G. Are there any Kenny G albums that are better than other Kenny G albums? Do Kenny G fans say "Yeah, I like this, but it's not like OLD Kenny G". Maybe I just have my head so far up my ass that I can't tell good AC from bad AC. It's the musical equivalent of bottled water.

What if the whole office does NOT agree on a particular AC station?

What if I like hits from the 60's 70's and 90's but not the 80's?

How is it that 20 years ago Bon Jovi and Def Leppard were considered Heavy Metal, but now you hear songs from those same albums on AC stations?

How do you define my area's best "soft rock hits". Is there a panel, that went to work and said that "I can't go for that" by Hall and Oates was better than say, "All out of love" by Air Supply?

Are there people out there who hear "Islands in the stream" and say, "Hey, crank this up"?

Their music speaks for themselves, I don't have to say a word. They are just awesome!!!

The difference between a good AC and bad AC to me is very simple: If you can listen to a station and enjoy their music mix for hours, then you have a good AC. If the station plays one crap song after another and have no presentation to it, now that is a bad AC!!! The Rose does just that, I can listen for hours and not get tired of the music because it is a fresh crop of songs everyday and not to mention the jokcs keep it interesting too!!!

Now I fully understand that not EVERYONE will enjoy the Rose to the same extent that I do, but I think if everyone would give them a chance (a couple of hours) I think I would have a lot of people on their side thinking like me that they are great.

Once you are great, you are great, If you suck, you will almost always suck!!!
 
It often comes down to this:

You won't be hurt by not playing a song that people would want to hear. You WILL be hurt by playing songs people don't want to hear.

That can be the difference between people thinking you suck or don't.

If you are playing songs people would rather not hear, they think you suck. If you play songs people want to hear but may miss a few they want to hear, people won't think you suck.

Vetguy, right on!!! And the Rose just does that, they play the songs people want to hear, obviously I would not enjoy them as much as I do if they did not. They don't play some songs because it just wouldn't work for them.

Thanks for coming on and confirming my thoughts!!! Like I said, I can listen to them for hours and enjoy just about every song. I admit as you say there are rare occasional songs that I think reek that they play but the 98% is awesome!!!

If I don't talk to you vetguy, enjoy the holidays and if you want to hear them holiday tunes they are coming Monday on The Rose!!!

Absolutely nothing and I do not even live in their area!!! I live in the first state of Delaware where we have crap for radio stations/same with Philly and you can tell by the board over in the Philly section there is alot of unhappy people there. The only exception being WPLJ (New York) which I listen to at nights cause I hate Delilah!!!

BTW, I work for a highly known Pharmaceutical company Astra Zeneca!!! That is where I get my pay from!!! Matter of fact, recently our company is doing well and we are looking to add three new buldings to our campus. If you have ever been to Wilmington near the A.I. DuPont Children's Hospital on Rt 202 (Concord Pike and Rt. 141 (Powder Mill Rd/Murphy Rd) you'd see our site, it is gorgeous. The names of our buldings is R&D. FOC, Alapocas (as in our street near the golf course), Brandywine (for Brandywine Valley), Chesapeake, and Delaware buldings. I work in the FOC bulding or the old North Campus. Sorry that your philosophy did not pan out!!! :p

BTW, for anyone out there that supports AZ thanks a bunch!!! :)

SYMBICORT is a newly approved, twice-daily, inhaled combination therapy containing budesonide (BUD), a corticosteroid, and formoterol (FM), a rapid and long-acting beta2-agonist. It is indicated for the long-term maintenance treatment of asthma in patients ages 12 and older. SYMBICORT is for patients not adequately controlled on other asthma-controller medications or whose disease severity clearly warrants initiation of treatment with two maintenance therapies.

SYMBICORT is not for everybody. Some people have expeierenced Hunger after not eating for extended periods of time. Violent crying spells, Apathy and Flatulence have been reported.

Do not use SYMBICORT if you speak German.

In rare cases patients who use SYMBICORT have reported obsessive listening to Rob Thomas, Celine Dion and Michael Bolton. If these side effects occur, you should stop taking SYMBICORT and immerse your head in water for at least 15 minutes.

Patients who go to the bathroom more than twice a day should not use SYMBICORT. Women will full voloptuous breasts should not handle SYMBICORT. They should also not listen to Rob Thomas, Celine Dion or Michael Bolton.

Contact your physician immediately if you experience the loss of a limb or an erection lasting under 4 hours.
 
I can see we are having fun poking at me about where I work, ect. I am glad I can be very entertaining and my station as well, cause well they are except I have a huge announcement to make.

101 THE ROSE IS NOW THE CHRISTMAS STATION AS OF TODAY!!! :'( :'( I was so sad when I turned them on this morning to hear "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town." I have said in previous posts that I do not like XMAS music too much so I am right now sad as can be posting this.

I knew it was coming I just did not know when!!! I STILL LOVE THE ROSE HOWEVER!!!

BUT I HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE TO THEM UNTIL DECEMBER 26th!!! I WILL MISS THEM GREATLY but I can't stomach 40 days of non-stop XMAS!!! :(

SO THE ROSE: THANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL MUSIC IN 2006, I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU HAVE IN STORE FOR 2007, I AM SURE IT WILL BE GREAT!!!!

I am right now listening until the holidays are over to 95.5 WPLJ!!! My second fav!!! Race Taylor, Scott&Todd, and Rocky Allen Showgram will have to keep me going during this period. They play some awesome stuff so far like Bon Jovi's Born To Be My Baby, etc. :)
