101 The Rose

YAY!!! WOO HOO!!! I just heard all 80s music on the Rose all weekend!!! WOO HOO!!! PAC MAN FEVER!!!! WOO HOO!!! hot stuff!!!! YAY!!!!! I LOVE THE ROSE!!!! WWW!!! RRR!!! OOOO!!!! ZZ!!!!!! I love 7.4kw ERP!!!! YAY!!!!

Actually, I've never heard the station - I just wanted to be an AC radio groupie.

Eating AND sniffing paste again? LOL

I agree SteelRocker!!! BTW, the Rose did have a hot weekend with the 80's! The music was so good, they are a class act whith everything you do. I was in Lancaster County earlier today, Monday afternoon, and Saturday with my friends and we all enjoyed it. They played The Clash, Queen, B-52's "Roam" and "Love Shack", they also if you listen plays The Cars and Blondie on an everyday basis like today I heard "One Way Or Another" and "Just What I Needed". They played some ABC and Animotion too on the weekend just to name a few.

Michael C was too cool today when he played Matchbox Twenty's "Back 2 Good' today, I have not heard that song in a while.

Michael C did an awesome job programming the 80's this past weekend and I am up in their area all this month to work on a project with my friends. :) I passed by their studio today when driving on Rt 283 West towards Manheim/Mount Joy. That was so cool to see their sign from the highway.

Michael Anthony, I remember my frist beer on New Year's Eve and after that I was all down hill from there. NYC partying was hot, there is nothing like Times Square on Dec 31st.

BTW, eatspaste, we need to get you on track. The Rose is the best AC station in the world, matter fact the best period. So, I have to admit if you want to be an AC groupie, this is the best station to do it with.

Rock on everyone and Happy New Year to everyone on this section of the board. Hope it was good and hope the partying didn't get you sick like it did me!

Uh, no, I do not want to be an AC groupie.

I'll admit (again) that I haven't heard this station in years, but looking at what WROZ plays on yes.net, it looks like the same music that every other (Hot) AC station in the country plays. The playlist looks a little wider than your typical big market (Hot) AC station; the station leans Hot AC at times - it looks like it's musically between WARM and FM97?

For all of the 9 pages of hype here, I would have thought WROZ was top 3 12+ somewhere!

This was their 7PM hour this past Saturday night:

Kim Wilde You Keep Me Hangin' On
Frankie Goes To Hollywood Relax
The Thompson Twins Doctor! Doctor!
Toni Basil Mickey
ZZ Top Gimme All Your Lovin'
Christopher Cross Sailing

How the hell do you go from ZZ Top to "Sailing"?!?!

Is Dandelion still alive? Thats a name from the past.

I'd assume she's still alive, she was in her mid-50s when I knew her during '92
and '93. I think she left during the "New Z-107" period, or just before Citadel
bought TeleMedia... probably 1996 or 1997.

"They call me 'Dandy' and I'm-a gone... BYE!"

BTW--I know two brothers who climbed the Z-107 tower several years ago and didn't get caught!

I remember checking those tower lights, leaning back and almost losing balance.

Since the 1990s, there's a large housing development all around that place, and
the building has been redesigned.

Certainly not a fan of AC here either! And, yea, that is terrible going from ZZ to Sailing. My problem with these 80s weekends is they never play different songs by these groups, its always the same ones. Of course, a couple of the above were one-hit wonders. Out here they think The Tubes only ever had one hit.....NOT.

First off, you are posting and contributing to the 9 pages aren't you? ??? Second, they may not have the "glamour" numbers that others have in the region but musically and talent wise they are the BEST! WARM 103 and 104 WINK are not even matched with music :p. The Rose does lean more toward a Hot AC and I do thing The Rose sounds more awesome when the Hot AC music is mixed in more. That would be my new year's thing for The Rose is to keep incorporating from time to time a Hot AC song but also not losing the AC format that they are. I would like for them to keep their #1 at work rating that they have. :)

I agree with you on only one point that I was funny to hear ZZTOP and Christopher Cross back to back, but then again these were all big hits in the 80's! I betcha if you could go back to the 80's and dig up some old playlists this occurence probably was not the first. My Rose rocked the 80's weekend! It was awesome!

Yes, SteelRocker the Tubes did have other hits like "Talk To Ya Later", but I don't think that most stations in the country play that song.

BTW. the music played on 101 The Rose is different than other AC's in the country. I know I have listened to WLEV, Magic 93, Lite 106.7, B101, and WJBR and sounds nothing like any of them. THANK GOD THEY DON'T, MOST ARE DREADFUL!! Except, Magic who does as 80's at 8 and 70's at 7. That is different.

BTW, on the subject of other AC's you know that saying "there's a rumble in the Bronx" I think that saying may just come true!

You forgot about their other hit "Don't Touch Me There".

OOPS! You are absolutely right on, isn't the 80's so much fun? I personally like "Talk To Ya Later" what a kick in the butt song.

BTW, I have yet another AZ person listening to The Rose as of today. I got a lady in the Alapocas building to switch off WJBR!!! Yeah! I am so happy to spread around The Rose anywhere I can cause they deserve it!!! Also, I have a few in Chesapeake building also listening to them. They agree with me, they like the variety!

Did everyone hear about the NYC add a new AC station? Should get interesting for the "disco ducks" Lite 106.7. My buddy that works for Merrill Lynch at World Financial Center told me that today! Let the fun begin. If they can put together even close to the station that 101 The Rose is they will be okay! Of course, no one will ever touch my Rose ;)

SteelRocker, off topic of radio here, but what is you favorite Blondie song? Mine is "Rapture."

Mine too! Did you ever hear the subtle "f" bomb in that song?

No, I never noticed, I will have to listen more closely. I also like "Dreaming" too Michael Anthony!!! I think Debbie Harry is just a fantastic female singer and she is just so cool how she presents it too!!!

The Rose played Rapture at 12:00AM, I was driving home from work and heard it, man it is so cool!

BTW, I hope Michael C. Anthony is feeling better. He got sick apparently yesterday and was in pretty bad shape today. I think the good old "bug" got him. He sounded so sick today. That is a shame because this is the second major illness in 2 weeks. My thoughts go out to him that he has a speedy recovery and is back to himself come next week. I just hope he takes a day or so to get himself well before coming back. Those damn flu bugs can keep coming back. Also, thanks Michael for playing my mom's request today, she totally enjoyed it! GET WELL Michael C. Anthony!!! We adore you!

"Dreaming" is a good Blondie song. Lotta drums.

Typing of drums... Friday, I was Rockin'/Punkin'/Jazzin' on a 5-piece, Pearl kit
with Sabian cymbals. A bit rusty, but I felt so alive!

Mine are "Hanging On the Telephone" and "Eat to the Beat."

Hanging On The Telephone is great too. I just saw that video for the first time on VH1 classic the other day, man Debby Harry looked so spaced out. Certainly one of the fun Blondie songs. My least favorite would be none, I like just about all of Blondie.

The Rose played a real cool 80's hit that I haven't heard in a while today and was voted as one the best videos ever to VH1 classic and it was Duran Duran "Girls On Film" love them guys but my fav would be and hopefully they play it next Friday is "Rio." I also liked the Regina song that Tom and Val played "Baby Love" I remember singing that song when I was a little girl in my dad's now my 1982 Buick Regal Grand National!! But now it has the 84 engine! The Rose is simply awesome!

The Rose sucks. I kicked their asses from 1994-2002, and would do so again if I was still in the market.

What market are you hanging out at Cadillac? I'm guessing you're the same one who used to be on FM-97 a few years ago. I would imagine your morning show did much better in the ratings than The Rose ever would. No comparison between the two formats.
