1010 Needs A new Lamptimer

Heard KXXT blasting with their gospel in Espanol this morning (4:00AM) all the way up to Sunset Point. Pretty good reach for only 250 watts at night......

I actually noticed that too Friday night, but didn't want to say anything. Out in the East Valley, KXXT usually has a very weak signal and is barely listenable here in Gilbert. Playing around on the dial, I'm able to DX on 1000 for KOMO News radio from Seattle or the Mexico City station on 1000, but that was impossible Friday night thanks to KXXT blasting with their 15,000 watts of pow-pow-power spilling over onto adjacent channels. The problem appeared to be gone on Saturday as KXXT seemed to be back to normal night-time power of 250 watts.

We'll keep an eye on KXXT and add them to the Doc's KFNN list of FCC rule breakers! ;D

Every now and then these lamptimers drift or hang up, resulting in improper power reductions or no reduction at all. Seems every Spring, Lumberyard 14~Forty will stay on a good portion of the night with full power. However in the case of KFuNN, they purposely program their lamptimer to reduce power only after a paid program has ended. In December that's 45 minutes past sunset. One of these days they'll get caught and Mo Ansari will have to settle for 100 watts, instead of the 22kw this illegal undocumented Mesa station uses. I'll have Nurse Jeff check out 10~Ten to determine if these guys have a lamptimer that's gone FUBAR, or they have plans of covering more than metro Tolleson at night.

Well there is quite a history of 1010 pulling this stunt. I think it goes unnoticed because who in their right mind would listen to that crap? Back in 2007 I was camping out near Crown King up on Lane Mountain (before some troglodyte burned it all down) and there was 1010 barking out their pseudo religious tripe.

I am pretty certain either Ronco or Popeil sells a digital solid state (wow!) lamp timer. If not, could they hook up their xmttr to a sundial?
