1010 Wins current sounders

I listen to WINS a lot, and was just thinking about the sounders/music they have now, particularly the headlines/weather/sports/finance songs. I know they debuted not very long ago, maybe 2 years or so? But I could have sworn that the arrangement was different at least for the weather jingle, that the "dings" within the melody came later. True or false?

(This was also the same time they tried to replace the traffic sounder with the one now used for finance for awhile...)

I really like the 1010 WINS sounders, and I know the newest one, made '09 or '10 was made by Foster Kent, with the main headlines, weather, sports, etc. The traffic sounder I learned is seperate, and has been used since around 2003 or '04, with the composer unkown. The Foster Kent is copyrighted, so no-one can have a voiceover free copy of the headlines package.

Dave Plotkin showed me how it was done when I was visiting WINS once... there's a keypad with 5 keys that are the "sting" for each segment of the headlines. That's how they're never too early or too late, the anchor is firing them off with each new headline. All of them are beat matched. Really cool cutting edge sound and brings the whole thing together.

When I saw it they had a combo of the screen and a little button pad they could use to fire off the elements in sequence.

It's an awesome package with awesome software. Sure beats trying to time the jingle out of the bed cart to fire off at the right time!!!

The YouTube video I posted was from Foster Kent's website. Yes, that is how it is done. This package is copyrigted so no-one can have it. Nice package though.

I think it was changed in 2010. I remember that they had the new fangled traffic sounder for a couple of weeks until there was enough backlash that they brought back the old one. Given how both then and 880 hype traffic every 10 minutes as a major feature of their broadcasts, people (myself included) were always listening for that one bit that signaled that it was time for the traffic.

By the way, the only sounder they use from the package is the Top of the Hour sounder. They briefly used some other sounders at the 20 and 40 minute marks, but they were quickly replaced with a slightly remixed version of the old 20 minute sounder (using some of Foster Kent's fanfare) and the unedited forty minute sounder from the previous package. I would really love to put voice-over free copies of the sounders from the previous package on my mp3, but unfortunately 1010 WINS will not allow it.

I also wonder who composed music for 1010 WINS prior to Foster Kent.
