102.1 Free-FM?

Domain 1021freefm.com registered last week by CBS. They own 102.1 FM stations in Cleveland and Kansas City.

Of course, Rover's on 92.3, which everyone thinks should be the logical choice to get the Free-FM format. And Roth is on WNCX. Hmmm...<P ID="signature">______________

WDOK gets the biggest ratings, and is the biggest money maker for CBS in Cleveland.

CBS would be crazy to screw with it.

Even though I don't listen to 102.1 unless I'm with my parents if CBS flips it to free-fm it would be a very stupid move. The station is always one of the highest rated stations in Cleveland. As far as 92.3 goes the new station will be unveiled tomorrow at 11am after Rover's show. I think if any Cleveland station flips to Free-fm it would be NCX.

All these domains CBS is registering, yet the flips have pretty much all come and gone. Just think how much fun the CBS IT guy is having spending $5 here, $5 there registering domains for random frequencies and watching how we all come out of the woodwork with wild speculation!

For the record, I have registered recuerdo1100.com... carry on.

WTAM To Go Spanish Because of Domain Name Registration! :)

So, THAT'S why Triv is rumored to be moving to FM! ;)

Seriously, you bring up a very important point. CBS Radio could well be registering every FM frequency they have, attached to "freefm.com". Then, when they do flip a station, all they have to do is twiddle a few bits at their hosting center.

CBS Radio could easily afford to register every frequency from 92.1 to 107.9.

WDOK is extremely healthy, ratings and revenue. I wouldn't bet on a flip there.

AllAccess mentioned this registration today, and they seem to believe that the Kansas City station would be a more likely target.

But they noted, as I did, that Infinity has registered "Free FM"-related domains for frequencies that haven't yet seen a flip (92.5 Denver/Tampa being just one example).
