102.1 in Sardis back on with Sporting News Radio

Calling themselves The Ox Sports Network and I think they are also simulcasting on 101.3 in Grenada but I could not confirm that. I will be in Oxford later in the week and will get confirmation.

I heard 1 local ad for a hotel in Oxford and a promo for local high school sports that would air on 101.3.

I noticed a couple cars at the building in Sardis a few weeks ago when I drove through there.

Drove up I-55 during the winter storm on Wednesday. They were actually the only stations providing any coverage of the weather and road conditions. They are simulcasting on both 101.3 and 102.1

At one point during it all I guess 92.1 needed someone to come in and generate a new playlist.. there was no music just dead air and a couple spots would play occasionally.

95.5 continued with their strange format of classic rock mixed with Michael Jackson, Gap Band, and Culture Club.

I heard an outdated an weather forecast once on 95.5. Also heard one on 102.1/101.3. I got better weather reporting from my news feed on Facebook.

Q 93.7 was on VT'ing with the song intro's drowning out the Voice Tracking.

I also stopped on B100 one time and heard a song playing that sounded like it was being played off a You Tube video.

Did you happen to notice if 95.5's audio sounds all crazy? The last several times I was in Oxford before I moved, 95.5's stereo separation was all akimbo. The only way I can describe it is as if the stereo audio was being sent through a Leslie speaker at a fast pace.

I doubt anyone listening in mono would have even noticed, but in stereo it was quite nauseating to hear. Then again the only time I ever got the station in stereo was within eyesight of the transmitter, it isn't exactly a powerhouse.

The Bullseye's audio was not doing anything crazy during my visit. It's definitely nothing to get excited over either.

It's a very noisy signal when your right in town especially early in the morning hours. I could listen to WVIM with no bleed over on both W. Jackson and on University just fine. 92.1 is equally noisy. The Oxford class A's don't like being in the hills and a few miles out of town.

Sounds like it was 180 degrees out of phase, but I don't know how you do that with computer systems these days. Miswire a D connector I suppose.

But what would cause it to drop into and out of phase in rapid fashion, perhaps 3 times a second?

Possible stereo generator or STL problems...unlikely to be xmitter...unless it is a funky exciter. They need an engineer, it appears. Regretfully, theirs was killed in an accident in Greenville working on a transmitter. JBI
