See, Entercom's alternative stations in Seattle, Portland & Sacramento have dumped all the hard rock/heavy metal artists (Mudvayne, System Of A Down, Slipknot, Linkin Park, 3 Doors Down, Default, Nickelback, Theory Of A Deadman, etc.) off their playlists last year. BTW, Entercom's alternative station in Seattle, 1077 The End still plays SOAD. If The Edge dumps all hard rock from its playlist, they'll continue to play Our Lady Peace, another hard rock artist. And by the mention of eliminating all hard rock they'll continue to play some Toronto-based hard rock artists such as Thornley, Three Days Grace, OLP, Finger Eleven, etc., but no Nickelback, Default, Theory Of A Deadman, etc. Live 105 in Silicon Valley has dumped 80% of the active rock already on its alternative playlist. Some alternative stations do it, such as CD101 Columbus, 91X San Diego, WLUM Milwaukee, etc.
Soon, expect The Edge to tweak to a 1077 The End-type format, with mainstream rock sister Y108 Hamilton sounding more active like the U.S. active rockers (WZZN Chicago, WAAF Boston, WRIF Detroit, WHDR Miami, KISW Seattle, etc.).
And, Corus' alternative stations that play hard rock will continue on CFOX Vancouver & FM96 London.
Edited by PassDutch on 07/26/05 11:54 PM.
