102.1 The Light turned out

Caught the Macarena on loop on 102.1 earlier today. The Light's website is down, and their Facebook says "Stay tuned! Exciting changes coming our way... Nashville we've listened to you & you're going to love listening too."

Stay tuned, indeed.

Yes, 102.1 has been stunting for a few days now. I caught it Sunday night, IIRC. The signal is another tough one that makes it hard to get any traction with any format. We could sure use another sports station, but my guess is 80's, 90's and some today-style AC (maybe lighter than the new Mix) with no local connection. I could see it being a second signal for their non-Light Christian station. I also could see the sense of a regional Spanish format, but that would require a specialized sales team.

By the way, today, I put my car into the shop for an oil change and routine maintenance and did the usual channel surfing. I would like to congratulate the FCC for now basically making the FM dial sound as bad as AM did when people used to listen to it. With the leaves on the trees and all the hills blocking the signals, all it sounds like is nothing but static on Channels A-Z.

FWIW, 98.3 has a decent city grade signal that seems to be blasting this week. I guess it is in honor of Gerry House's return. Too bad the most listened to radio station this week is geared toward all those damn old people that don't buy anything.

That would make too much sense, so the FCC would make sure that would be the LAST station on the FM. Plus, with two stations now on most FM frequencies, where would they find any more room? Sadly, I think radio overkill may very well actually kill radio.

102.1 The Ville is now Classic R & B and Soul. This will be an interesting station for Bud.

It has been a fairly active couple of weeks in Nashville radio with 97.5 debuting ALT; Gerry House back on and in his element with classic country hits on 98.3, and two format flips today, with 102.1 and 100.7 WHIN going from classic country to the hits of late 70's through today.

It's already :05 past the hour with no new format. Is All-Macarena the new format? Some people "could" listen to that all day...
Maybe "The Former Light's" stream is stuck on that one song forever, the stream is how I'm listening here in Lebanon.
Your clock/watch must be fast. As soon as I went out to the car yesterday, I heard Whitney Houston's version of the "Star Spangled Banner," leading me to believe that maybe they were simulcasting 93.3 (who also does that at noon), but fortunately, that turned out not to be the case.

I like the new format, and logo, but not the name, "the Ville"? They couldn't do any better than that?

First time for this format in Nashville (I think) since 106.7 had it in 1999 when they were playing "musical chairs" with formats. Hopefully, 102.1 can stick with it for a while. Limited playlist so far; I have already heard some of the same songs more than once since yesterday! Hoping that they will add some extended dance mixes to the playlist. Haven't heard that here in Nashville for a while!
