102.3 in Southern Ocean

W272CU, 102.3, originally licensed to Warren Grove, now as Stafford Twsp., filed for a "license to cover" today ..
The translator is supposedly relaying WYRS from Manahawkin ..
I'm curious as to how it affects the other 102.3 translator in nearby New Gretna, W272BH, which relays "Hope FM", WVBV in Medford Lakes ..
There has to be some kind of overlap between the two ..
Any reports down there ?

Why would a translator be necessary when WYRS transmits from right down the road? How does this crap even get accepted is beyond me...

WYRS isn't in HD, Nick ..

W272CU is not on the air yet and I haven't heard them testing either.

This signal is going to be a real dog, lucky to cover a 2 mile radius reliably.

W272BH from New Gretna covers Stafford Twp. and LBI south of Rt. 72 with a pretty decent signal already.

WIOQ's IBOC splatters onto W272BH's 102.3 signal in the Ocean Acres section of Stafford Twp. west of the Parkway.

Whenever there is the least bit of tropo, WAIV comes in with a clear stereo signal right over W272BH in Stafford and on LBI.

Also, a query in the FCC database *does* show authorization for WYRS to go HD.

The authorization for WYRS to go HD was made back in 2007, but they never persued it ..
I did talk to Bob Wick some time ago, and they have no intention of going HD ..
