102.5 HD 2 now playing "New Country"

I'm probably the ONLY person who's noticed this, but earlier this week, WKLB HD2 was playing an interesting mix of what could best be termed Classic Country which was a bit refreshing. Today, they're now playing what they call "New Country - The Wolf". Being a country music fan, it doesn't sound much different than WKLB HD1...minus the commercials and announcers. I know Country on it's own is like nails on a chalkboard to some, but having the "alternative" was a different change of pace.

Just my $0.02.

i noticed it Sunday at work, once i heard the wolf and was like huh. I didn't know the wolf was from greater media i think they should change wklb to 102.5 the wolf just a suggestion.

It sounds like it's coming from a National network feed from someplace. I wonder from what? It dosen't sound local.

Also the Country stations in Northern New England now formerly owned by Nassau are all called "The Wolf."

If you all listen to Country, what would you rather listen to?

New Country (New, Recent, and going 6 years back)?

or ?? a Mixture of Country which is 102.5 is now (New, Recent, and old)

????

I'd rather hear New (New, recent, and six years ago)

But my point is: if you have an alternative channel, why not offer alternative programming (alternative meaning different, not the format...) They offered an alternative with the Classic Country, now it just seems like similar programming to their main channel because the country I've heard in the past six hours isn't any "newer" than what they play on their main channel. Heck, give me local country artists, country rock, bluegrass - something that makes me want to listen to an HD channel and something that might entice people to invest in an HD radio.

Again - while I've worked in the business up and down the food chain, I don't claim to have all the answers to radio's ailments...but sometimes, some of the decisions leaving me scratching my head.

It sounds no more local than the Classic format they had prior...local liners every couple of songs but nothing more.

In Southeastern Connecticut, WMOS-102.3 (a joint venture of Cumulus and Mohegan Sun Casino, where the studios are located) calls itself "The Wolf", but is a classic rock format.
