102.5 The Alternative Station

Maybe since they make no reference to "101" during their on air announcements, maybe that will keep tosu happy? ???
Last week the station told me, "They have bigger fish to fry" when I told them WWCD is still nsing
"101" on the air during station IDs and promos. They did say will eventually deal with WWCD.
Maybe they called them out on this over the last few days? When did they re-brand themselves?

What about the timing of this? Dose this have any thing to do with tOSU having dismissed school
for the Summer?

It probably has more to do with the Tressel/Pryor tattoo scandle. Think about it.

Is this "re-branding" being done across the board? Or are some jocks still stubbornly holding on to the long-obsolete "CD101" brand, or calling it something else?

102.5 The Alternative Station sounds lame. Couldn't they come up with something else, say 102.5 The Edge? Or just call it CD102.5. Or Channel [email protected]? Or 102.5 The Sound? Or Click 102.5? There are a ton of names for 102.5 out there. The Alternative Station doesn't sound like a primary brand, it sounds like a secondary brand, like, say for example, 102.5 The Edge, The Alternative Station. That sounds good.

Leslie James was the only one who consistently said "The Alternative Station 102-5" for the past few months with the other jocks sometimes or never using the phrase. Then a few weeks ago everybody was saying it all the time.

All the station info spots (concert calendar, connecting Columbus, etc.) have been over the past few weeks changed to not mention the number 101 unless they reference the website cd101.com even though cd1025.com works too.

All advertisements on the website have also finally been changed to reflect the new frequency at 102.5.

WWCD, 102.5, was at Comfest last week. The ONLY bumper stickers they were handing out had 102.5 is in big bold numbers and 'FM' in tiny letters. That sticker is here:

This bumper sticker replaces the 101.1 FM bumper sticker and a couple other stickers with CD101 printed on them.

More info this here: http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/WWCD

Is the 102.5 Bumper Sticker a good way to advertise their station and format? Their only '102.5FM' bumper stickers appears to be as generic as you can get with a radio station bumper sticker. :D

It looks like the streaming may have gone the way of the "101."
Gone for good.
From what has been posted on here, they dropped the streaming due to high costs, and probably to save money to pay for their fancy new digs. Details on all this stuff are in another thread on down the board.

At the July 4th Doo Dah parade, 102.5's Lesley James was the "Less-Than-Grand Marsha":

http://www.doodahparade.com/

From that site:

"Less-Than-Grand Marshal: Lesley James of CD101 (102.5FM). WWJD? What will Lesley James Do? Will she show up? Or, will she be a no-show? Tradition has it that the Less-Than-Grand Marshal usually does not to show up. That was until Bob Nunnally discovered in 2000 that it was actually fun!"

NOTE, 102.5 is still using the 101.1FM logo on this truck but the tee shirt Lesley James is wearing has the new 102.5FM logo on it... Confused yet ???

Here are some photos of the WWCD 101.1FM truck at the July 4th Doo Dah parade:

Also, they told me they moved into their new studio/office building and it's 95% complete as of last week... Maybe they need to change the 101.1 logos to 102.5 logos at their new digs to make it 100% complete?

Simply inexcusable to still have "CD101" still emblazoned on the station van. Smacks of both cheapness and laziness.

I chalk it up to the station simply having being too lazy to properly re-brand to "102.5" (if that's what they are now being referred to as such) when they should have done so last July. Hey, congrats to "102.5" for finally catching up with reality so long after the fact.

Now complete the re-brand and quit this half-@$$ed effort.

Pretty inaccurate information. The oval 101 sticker appeared in 1992, after Roger Vaughan took over the station. The original logo/sticker used in 1990 and '91 was rectangular and actually said CD 101 with "Modern Rock" on the bottom.
