102.5 The Game without George Plaster

With today's announcement of George Plaster leaving 102.5 The Game to become the Assistant AD at Belmont University, what does the future hold for 102.5 The Game? I was always of the opinion that the only reason 102.5 went to Sports Talk was to appease George Plaster once he left 104.5 The Zone, along with his cohorts Willie Daunic and Darin McFarland. The Game has been a very distant second to the Zone since then, with a very iffy signal South and East of Nashville. And to tell the truth, 102.5 the Game hardly ever crossed my mind in the past year until I saw that Plaster was leaving. Do you think 102.5 will remain as Sports Station? Or do you see a format change for 102.5?

My (total) guess is George saw the writing on Bud's wall. There is NO way this has been a painless or profitable attempt. The ratings have never materialized. George would have stayed until retirement had the revenue and ratings been there. Honestly, it had to be a hard thing to give up the radio career, but this new gig @ Belmont has stability and that means more than fame, I think it will be a good, sane move for George. There is virtually no way the expect another brighter star to rise at 102.5. How long it stays sports is anybody guess, except Buds, I guess. Maybe through the end of the year to see what might happen. There are a lot of working parts with the other stations that feature sports at Cromwell. One clue is George say's he may do some on air minimal work, so Bud may just see where this all lands for a few months. My guess is 102.5 picks up a format Bud's already running to stay cheap...I might miss the mark on this or, uh, hit it. Thoughs?

I would say that you are both right. Seems like ALL of Bud's stations are, and always have been, a sick, sad joke. They have their translator for WQZQ (93.3) on channel 4's tower, and sometimes, even when I am within sight of the tower, it doesn't even come in all that well!
