102.5 WMYI MOVES TRANSMITTER TO 92.5 WESC TOWER

Good points.... but when is B93.7 gonna start playing Foster The People?

Believe it or not B93.7 does play Foster The People, but you're lucky if you hear it once a day (and usually at night). Guess it's too "cutting edge" for Upstate :'(

Foster The People is not too cutting edge for the Upstate. The PD's think it is (but apparently the latest from {insert any rhythmic or noise-generating rock artist} isn't). We have some of the most conservatively-programmed stations in the state. 93.3 and 93.7 are perfect examples. I could see being more conservative 20 years ago, but the area has greatly changed and diversified since.

As for 102.5's signal, I was in a parking lot off of Woodruff Rd. and got bad static earlier this week. It seems like I'm noticing it breaking up more than before.

How is that even possible anywhere in the main part of Greenville?! All the GSP stations have always been flawless on my radios throughout Greenville, the sole exception being WHZT with some static around town and more static beginning on I-85 when you pass Pelham Rd (exit 54) and even worse when you pass Duncan (exit 63). Thank goodness for their 94.1, although I think that should be moved into downtown Spartanburg. Even 103.3 has done well for me around Greenville and the Golden Strip.

By the way, I've only noticed an improvement on 102.5's signal up here in Gaffney. No longer getting dropouts around the house, it's alot stronger than before even with the antenna down on my Grundig S350DL.

It's done it twice to me. Once on Haywood Rd. near the mall and then this past week off of Woodruff Rd. It's nothing like the signal is/was up towards Paris Mountain (that is downright awful), but I have had two dropouts in their signal. They aren't that bad, though, because as soon as I move it clears up.

How can WMYI legally ID WMYI-FM Hendersonville, I live in Arden (South Asheville) driving through Fletcher towards Hendersonville. There was so much static on US HWY 25, I could not even get a HD lock in some areas of Hendersonville. If I got a HD lock it would switch back and forth. It used to be excellent from Asheville south towards Hendersonville. I all ready miss the old signal, hope it was well worth it for you upstate listeners. Why can we not share the signal like we used too?

I did some driving today around Western NC, from Fletcher & Hendersonville to Brevard,
and also up Highway 276 into Pisgah National forest near the Blue Ridge Parkway.
There were some places even in Hendersonville (COL) & Fletcher with some static along US-25,
which wasn't the case a few weeks ago. Brevard had a good signal on 102.5,
similar in strength to 92.5 & 93.7 at Caesars Head. I got an ok signal climbing up towards Mt Pisgah
along US-276 north of Brevard. The best signal I found on 102.5 in WNC was in the town of Rosman along US-64.

I found that out a few days ago. What a difference moving the tower a few miles makes.
I got a decent amount of static once I got north of Hendersonville on Route 25.

I agree with the city of license, they really should have had to get a new one,
because Hendersonville itself is no longer city-grade signal by far.
I saw the old site from Hendersonville (Upward Rd @ US-176), 8 miles to the SW,
but the new site is 15 miles away and behind mountains,
causing dropouts in some spots without line of sight.
I had a hard time getting 102.5 near the Asheville Airport in Arden/Fletcher this week.
I imagine it's only worse when you get into Asheville itself.

It wasn't too bad in Brevard, although there was noticeable static even there, very close to Caesars Head.
I'll try to keep a lookout on MY's facebook and see how many people have been complaining about the change.
Maybe they could match Magic 98.9 and get a translator in Asheville,
or a booster may work if line of sight is blocked and a site was chosen correctly.

MY disabled wall posts on Facebook quite a while ago so you may not find anything.

Funny that a lot of signal was lost towards the north, but I really notice no gain to the south. I tried it in Laurens county today and still heard a little background static at times if you listen for it. No big change.

I honestly got a better signal from the 97.7 translator & 98.9 when I was in Fletcher just north of Hendersonville versus 102.5.
I know there's probably a lot of frustrated people out there, some even on this board.
I hope they think about a translator or booster, or I'd just move it back and upgrade it's wattage from the old site.
The signal strength in the area now is comparable to how B93.7 would come in around Asheville, just not gonna work 100%.

In Laurens County (city of Laurens) the RL map says it should have a comparable signal to Gaffney.
From the old site it'd start getting static after you pass Gaffney on I-85, and wouldn't come in as good on a cheap radio.
Now in most of Gaffney and all of Spartanburg on the car radio I don't have any static at all.

The signal south of the city of Laurens is the same. There's no BAD static - it's just occasional blips if there is talking and you turn the volume up.
I haven't noticed any more static in Greenville. I have a signal strength meter on my vintage receiver in my home which is south of Simpsonville. 102.5 registers about the same on it that it always has (I never had issues with the signal).

I guess the signal isn't strong enough to make it over some of the mountains. The Radio-Locator maps can deceive up in the mountains - according to it, WSPA should have a great signal in Asheville, but they don't. They've had that translator up there forever.
