So I can get 102.5 WRFY from my house in Bensalem, but only on the Sony XDR-F1HD not on anything else.
Any idea why?
I also can't get it completely without any static at all but do get it in stereo.
Its only gotten with my amplifier on my antenna turned up a bit and with the outdoor antenna which is on a 30 foot mast.
So a couple of questions.
Have they reduced power lately?
Is it possible that both 102.1 WIOQ and 102.9 WMGK iBoc signal hamper the frindge reception?
I can't get the gambler at all. but if I'm around the Verizon woodhaven location, I can get both WRFY and the gambeler mixing.
Also it used to be WRFY-FM. was there a WRFY on AM too?
I much prefer the adult hits format of WRFY over Ben-FM personally.
Bigger veriety and Y102 does add currents.

W273DO 102.5 FM from center city is likely causing some interference. its nulled towards Reading to protect WRFY, but that protection ends in a north to northeast line from approximately center city to jenkintown.
 
iHeart could have used 102.5 to make another “full power” station for Philly. WRFY covers up to the Main Line. The translator could have been non-directional if it was synchronized with WRFY, operating as a booster in real life despite being licensed as a translator. Then they could sell advertising on it like it’s another Philly station. Perhaps the Hot AC format could fit right in between their CHR and Soft AC.

OK, so I'm not an engineer, or technically inclined on the broadcast end at all, but I feel like:

1.) The translator is outside the contour of WRFY where a straight rebroadcast would be allowed.
2.) If the translator was made non-directional, wouldn't the WRFY signal and the translator signal literally cancel each other out in some areas, if if they were "broadcasting the same thing?"

(I could be 100% wrong on both of those, so I definitely welcome better educated input!)

It’s outside the 60 dBu of WRFY but it’s a translator with a parent of WDAS-HD2. They can be synchronized. Revolution 93.5 in Florida does that.

So theoroletically they could put WRFY on any of the Philly FM HDs, make that the "parent" of the 102.5 translator, but the WRFY-FM signal itself wouldn't be able to be the parent of the translator.

I still think that with B101, WRFY wouldn't be able to really make any dent with that small translator in Philly

It’s not just the translator, but that in addition to WRFY can cover half the market
 
I don't see how this would work. In the area I was speaking of. WRFY would come in, the translator would come in, but then you'd turn a different direction and it'd be more static than not even in the car. My thinking is that the translator wouldn't reach the 60DBu of WRFY so it still wouldn't cover from Reading to Philly without any interfearence at all.
