102.7 FM

How long has 102.7 been on the air in the Scranton area and relaying WFUZ? I just noticed it this morning. Where's the xmtr?

In W-B, I can still hear them over Kiss. Kiss' signal and the WFUZ translator collide each other in different parts of the city, but as you travel on either southbound on 81 south of the Nanticoke exit, all traces of the WFUZ translator disappears completely.

Is the translator placed near the WEJL tower?

W274AO, 102.7 has been broadcasting from the Times Tower (just below 107.3) for over 3 years. It is a translator for WEZX-HD2. It is directional with 250 watts facing Dickson City. WEZX-HD2 carries the WFUZ, 92.1 program. It is designed to cover Scranton city (where WFUZ has building penetration problems) and parts northeast (Dickson City, Dunmore, Jessup, Olyphant, Eynon, etc.). It is very effective. Any location south of the Scranton city line is unimportant as the main WFUZ signal is excellent there (Penobscot signal at 92.1). WFUZ also broadcasts via WEZX-HD2 on 96.1 in Clarks Summit (W241AZ). All penobscot signals have issues in Chinchilla and Clarks Summit.

Thanks for the info, Kevin.

I guess I spend most of my time south of Scranton, as I was surprised my car radio stopped on 102.7 when I hit 'scan.'

Williamsport's WKSB has a monster signal, and it's not uncommon to have it pop in near Scranton.

KISS 53 KW tower on the top of 1,800' Bald Eagle Mountain. At one time, back in the late 50's early 60's the station could be heard in Canada!
