102.7 in HD

BTW, to answer an earlier question: yes, we run -20dBc injection of the HD carriers. All our HD gear is from a few years back and there's not really any profit in paying the significant cash to upgrade our Exporter Plus to the latest, nor the Importer to an Importer Plus, just to increase to -14dBc injection. I haven't checked but given how close WRNI-FM is to 102.5, I don't think we could do -10dBc.

Really the HD is there to feed 96.5 in Newport; the fact that there are some HD listeners in South County who can also listen to 102.7HD2 is mostly gravy. ;)

FWIW, no plans to turn on HD on 1290AM again. AFAIK, LPR hasn't requested it and last I asked about it, I was told we'd need to plunk down some cash to repair the Dexstar on the Harris TX. Maybe even replace it, which would be quite a lot of $$$ that would do little to serve LPR's audience. HD penetration is just so ridiculously low in Rhode Island that it's hard to justify running HD at all. Not unless it's part of some larger enterprise like we're doing with MVYradio. (shrugs)

OTOH, I wouldn't mind taking 1290 all-digital just to save a boatload on the electric bill at 1110 Douglas Ave! ::) (j/k)
