102.7 KIIS-FM Slowly Moving Back To Rhythmic Lean?

Is it just me or is KIIS-FM slowly moving away from being Mainstream and back to leaning Rhythmic?

For example, KIIS added "Look At Me Now - Chris Brown" before it ever went for Mainstream adds, and that's now Top 10 on KIIS. They have also added "Right Above It - Lil Wayne f/Drake". "Moment 4 Life - Nicki Minaj & Drake" is #1 on KIIS-FM with 101 spins in 7 days, while "Down On Me - Jeremih & 50 Cent" is also nearing 100 spins in 7 days. KIIS has also reintroduced "Bottoms Up - Trey Songz & Nicki Minaj" back into their playlist. Is it just me, or has a whole lot of Rhythmic/Urban product been added to KIIS lately? More than 2010 anyway.

I havent listen to KIIS in a while. AMP sounds more rhythmic than KIIS but nice to see their changing up things. I actually like KIIS around 2006-2007 its was almost like listening to a all rythnmic station.

KIIS hasn't been "mainstream" since the 80s

Actually, KIIS avoided most rhythmic product until the mid 2000s. In the late 90s, KIIS waited until songs by Destiny's Child or TLC or Usher hit the top 10 on the CHR/Pop charts before adding them to their rotations. Now, KIIS is early on the rhythmic music because its competing with KPWR in a way that it wasn't in 1998 and its competing with KAMP, which wasn't around 3 years ago.

When I hear Busta Rhymes next to Taylor Swift, though, I am assured that KIIS is still very much "mainstream".

I know KIIS-FM has always been more Rhythmic than most CHR's. But it seems like once KAMP-FM hit the scene a few years ago, KIIS started to add more Mainstream (Rock/Pop) product than usual. However, I feel like their starting to move away from that strategy to return to their original form.

They're still mainstream CHR. Power 106 is moving back to R&B/Hip Hop so this probably a response to KPWR's shift.

Well KZZP has done the same thing. I haven't seen any of the current or recurrent "harder" pop rock/alternative titles that I saw in their plays list about two or three weeks ago. The Script, Daughtry, and One Republic seem to have completely disappeared from Kiss / KZZP for now.

I forgot. I believe that they have this recurrent from Daughtry that they play every time they decide to "swing more pop rock". They switch back and fourth between more and less pop rock every now and then throughout the year(s) and it seems like the pop rock recurrents tend to "come back" every time they do another pop rock phase.

KPWR will always be a Rhythmic regardless of whatever KIIS and KAMP has in their rotation.
