What's the poop on this station moving into the tri-cities market as a C3 FM? It originally is licensed to Cumberland, Ky. but was sold by the local people in Cumberland to someone in Va. and sold again and now has a CP to go to a C3 licensed to Weber City, Va. The tower location is in kinsport, Tn. Who owns it now and what format would they want to try?

102.7, WVEK-FM, is now owned by Holston Valley Broadcasting. The tower will be in Kingsport but the city of license will be Weber City, VA.

I know there has been a big stink over this station with the new station from glade springs 100.5. I know that the company that owns 104.3 will own the 100.5 station but not sure when it will be on the air. I read on here sometime in May but I was up that way and it was not on yet.
Since Holston Valley Broadcasting owns 102.7 now what do you all think the station will play in this area? I will be interested to know what and when they plan to have it on the air is?

here at the mighty HVBC we don't even know what the format will be yet.I think Acid Polka would be a winner......you just don't hear that many AP stations anymore.... ;D

The format HVBC will take is easy: Just figure out the format the market needs the most and HVBC will go in the opposite direction.

OK GANG...JUST IN FROM THE CAROLINA CARLOT WITH A TIP ON WHAT WE'RE HEARING OVER HERE ABOUT 102.7! I'VE GOT IT ON PRETTY GOOD AUTHORITY THAT THE STATION WILL BE COUNTRY. I HEAR THE MORNING SHOW WILL BE SYNDICATED, NIGHTS WILL BE SHARED WITH THE OTHER STATION THEY HAVE IN THE MARKET (WMEV). I THINK THE NIGHT SHOW IS LIA A SYNDICATED SHOW. I HAVEN'T HEARD A NAME FOR MIDDAYS, BUT 2 VERY IN THE KNOW PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME THAT GUNNER JACKSON COULD BE THE PD AND AFTERNOON GUY. APPARENTLY HE STILL HAS KIDS IN THE TRI-CITIES OR SOMETHING. I'VE ALSO HEARD THAT BRETT SHARP, THE PD AT STAR COUNTRY IN ROANOKE WILL BE THE CONSULTANT. THIS SOUNDS PRETTY EXCITING FOR YOU GUYS THERE IN OLE BRISTOL KINGSPORT JOHNSON CITY. HECK, THEY MIGHT EVEN CALL THE STATION STAR COUNTRY.
Dennis Kelly may be doing middays. He may be where all of this info is coming from. I think he left ole Carolina in his mind. As a matter of fact, I just got an email from a buddy of mine and all this is coming from Dennis Kelly. I don't know. Sorry.

A friend of mine said some 'XBQ'ers could be raided to build station cred. Any ideas on who? Also, I heard once this is done, Gunner's going right after the Rabbit, cause things ain't great tween he and Billy Boy! I think within a year, Hagy will be going back to the ole drawing board, cause DK had a 30 share when he was at XBQ, and they've never recovered from his departure!! That dude was the best talent in the market. If you don't believe it, just ask him! :

I had heard rumours that HVBC was indeed courting a couple of Rabbits. As for Dennis Kelly doing mids....heck he could do all dayparts as popular as he is.

WMEV is not even a contender in the tri-cities. Whoever the guy running that station is, my contacts say is not a player. Brett is. He's got a great track record. The last thing WSLC cares about is Wytheville (where is that anyway?)!

Take this for what you will..but..my sources tell me now that a deal HAS been reached with 2 Primetime jox at the Rabbit, and contracts could be signed as early as Monday. Reason could be because they haven't informed Billy Boy yet. This one's gonna set the Tri-Cities off when it's announced. And..I hear HVBC had to PAY to land these 2!! More details as they come in. WXBQ is in TROUBLE!!
WXBQ is not in trouble. 102.7 doesn't have the signal to kill, just to aggrivate. If anybody leaves WXBQ, the next person to fill their shoes will be the star and the love of all Rabbit worshippers. It's been about 7 years since I was in tri-cities, but that station is a monster and a little ghost isn't going to kill it!
The only trouble here is the BS talked. Noboldy knows nothing of such vial things. WXBQ is not and will never be in trouble. That station will always take the lead!!!! Pull as hard as you can the Horse is real stubborn!!!!! And by the way it is most certainly not Billy Boy...It is Mister ByGod Bill Hagey thank you very much!!!! Dont disrespect or hate
