102.7 The Vibe

Is it just me, or has The Vibe been sounding plain bad lately? For a long time, especially before B-98's flip to Hot AC, they were a decent sounding rhythmic. They seemed to have just the right balance of new music and recurrents, as well as hip hop that was a bit heavier than what you'd hear on KISR or B98. However, recently, its become harder to distinguish The Vibe and KISR. The Vibe doesn't seem to like new hip hop anymore and about 4 out of every 5 songs is a recurrent from at least a year, most of the time longer. Is this the result of the conservative market that Fort Smith is and hip hop not selling? About the only time I can hear today's rhythmic hits on the Vibe is on sunday morning when they run the weekend top 30.

I've only heard the vibe few times goin' back and forth to games and what do you expect from a station that has two of the most non hip hop looking people. go to the web site and look at these clown's myspace pages one's a Golf loving Republican and the other looks to be more of a rocker...and so now you don't have to ask such questions. if you want to hear a good station in your area, you probably have to go online to do it. lol those clowns sound like trash that's why they're in market 190 something. the imaging is alright though and the music seems slower to pick up...but it's fort smith no Dallas or Tulsa. and why are they promoting a young buck and akon show with "lonely" as the cue to call? Because they are a bunch of geniuses up there good for them ::)

I will admit that the Vibe is much better than KISR's attempt at a rhytmic in the market back in 2000-01. However, KREU 92.3 Crew had a pretty good night show with a pretty urban sounding DJ. I wonder why the Vibe can't get somebody like that. The rest of the day on KREU was a joke though with a far more limited selection of music than even the Vibe has.

However, the music still sucks compared to about any rhythmic except KKWD in OKC maybe, and the DJs are the worst I've ever heard, most of the time stuttering to get their words out. But I shouldn't expect any better in a market as small and conservative as Ft. Smith. Its suprising the market has as many stations as it does.
