My Cousin is in a band & he told me that when he talked to 102.7's PD to bring his single to the radio. The PD said that 102.7 WNEW would become Billboard Top 40. I hope z100 isn't effected by this.

THIS IS WHERE JACK BELONGS, NOT ON 101.1!!!!!!!!!!!

New York is a bigger radio market than inside the Village and Fire Island!

NYC.....the big.....RADIO JOKE!

Yeah, sure.....blow up K-Rock and Q104, while you're at it!!!

NEW YUCK DOESNT DESERVE A ROCK STATION!
______________

That's a bit harsh....I would wager that both KTU and Mix are getting mroe listeners than just the stereotypical "gay" audience...

Why doesn't NYC deserve rock stations. K-Rock and Q104.3 each have their place...

Oldies shoulda stayed right where it was. What NYC didn't need was a Jack-FM...does anyone honestly believe this station will do any better than CBS-FM, which wasn't doing that bad?

Jack will probably do ok in the first few books, but then fail. I don't know why Infinity flipped. Yes, add revenue, oldies format issues, money, etc. was an issue for Infinity, but 1)they weren't doing bad in ratings and 2)I'm sure they would have survived with the add money since CBS FM has a loyal audience. Infinity just wants money. $$$$$ It is all about that. There's corporate radio for you!

RIP CBS FM

Sorry, but I couldn't post without my periodic swipe at all things rhythmic. Then again, I was NEVER known for my politically correct views/posts.

And some would say that place is at the bottom. Yeah, yeah...we've all heard it here before "New York isn't a rock town" blah blah blah. Q104 is eh at best and what they've done with K Rock is embarassing. I can't believe the people who run WYSP, a class rock station in Philly, are responsible for what occupies 92.3. NYC can't support even one rock station, let alone a classic rocker (Q104's numbers aren't setting the world on fire). Hence, NYC doesn't deserve one.

Two words: JAMMIN' OLDIES. Everyone hopped on that trend and it quickly went the way of the Dodo bird. Or even the leisure suit!!! See also: 70's, 80's, Modern AC. You'd sooner see a country station....not to knock country, but it seems the more ethnically diverse the format is, the more New York loves it.
______________

Probably not numbers wise but billing wise Infinity believe so.
______________
WQCD, NY. Chill, Finally some creative radio!

I don't see JACK-FM getting them much more revenue... I see it costing less to run, but not billing much more. In NYC radio News, Weather, Entertainment & Traffic get you good numbers and depending on who you target they get you the billing. If all you have is a jukebox with no personality if they aren't liking whats currently playing its an immediate flip and not a wait and see what so and so is gonna do or say next...

They call the Jack-FM format the I-POD station, just lots of randomly selected music, the only problem is ON YOUR I-POD its music you yourself selected and loaded on...
