102-9/The Lake Plays 12 In-A-Row At 9, 2 & 5:30

How do you think this programming strategy will affect competitor K104.7?

We know that K has the workday kickoff in the early AM, & that they've been programming it for a few years now.

So, now we know that Lake is promoting that daypart - does K play more than 12 in a row then?

What do you think the significance of playing 12 in a row is for 2pm & 5:30? The 5:30 rush hour?

--Thanks

"12 in a row" is just a cheap concept. You want to impress listeners with non-stop music? Start promoting "17 in a row" or higher. At least listeners will expect at least a full hour without commercial breaks.

Nobody did this like the original "92.3 K-Rock" in New York. When they promised "20-song music marathons," they actually gave $20,000 to any listener who listened very, very closely and confirmed that they played 19 songs in a row or less.

My favorite station has a six-pack at the beginning of some people's workday.

If you're lucky, once the satellite format starts up you get three in a row.

What a shame they didn't say 19 or fewer songs instead.

Unless they play fractions of songs, then "less" would, I suppose, be acceptable grammar.

Has anyone else noticed how 1029 The Lake sounds a lot different since adding the "Chuck FM" voice to their liners? They seem to have refocused on older/70s-80s music and gotten rid of all the currents that were holdovers from a year ago at Lite FM.

VChimpanzee,

What station is that?
Memories 1280. If you're in the UNCC area and conditions are ideal you can get it.

And I forgot one thing. The satellite provider has commercial breaks but sends out music during two of them each hour, so a station airing news at the top of the hour could have as many as five songs without commercial interruption, even though the DJ might talk. A station airing music instead of news could have ten songs on a row.
