1020 KTNQ The Spanish years

Hey Guys:

I just want to make sure I have this correct.

When KTNQ started its spanish format in 1979 was it Spanish ranchera or spanish standards?

Did KTNQ go Spanish Talk in July of 1996?

Thanks

There was no such thing as Spanish Language Standards in 1979; the format was developed in México in the 90's by Grupo Radio Centro under the name of El Fonógrafo del Recuerdo. The format has never been done in the USA.

In 1979 Ten-Q was a variety format, including regional Mexican and contemporary.

I changed the format to all talk in a slipstream fashion. The change began in late 1995 and was complete in about March or 1996.

Just a technicality, but Ten Q was "Spanish Language Talk" as "Spanish talk" would refer to a talk station in Spain or about Spain.
