I'm not seeing anything on the i♥radio Android app, either. To be fair, I can't seem to get to the end of the list without the app crashing. Way to go, Clear Channel!

The Android app has never included all of Clear Channel's stations. They're beta-testing a version of the app that does have all the stations, though. It's expected to be out anytime now.

On the Birmingham page of http://radiotime.com, the HD2 channel of WQEN is listed as Today's Mix, and indeed that is what streams off of that link. As of this morning the Valentine show is on.

Is that what is on 103.1 and 960 AM now?

I don't think that means anything. The Today's Mix stream comes from Clear Channel's format lab, not any streaming encoder in Birmingham.

Your guess is as good as mine on that one. I know Clear Channel runs HD2 formats on a few translators, but I've never heard any of them to determine whether they originate from the format lab or have local origination. I don't believe any of them have live and local staff, but, again, I'm not 100% sure on that.

Here's an interesting and humorous find on youtube of the new 103.1 stunting with the oldies format. Clear Channel says there is no other station in town playing the oldies. Ummmm... "The Peach".....

LOL. Yep just throw up the same loop of music from all the other format flips you've done, no need to tailor it to the local market. Although to be fair, The Peach ain't much of a signal north of Hoover. I could never pick them up clearly in Gardendale or Trussville, either.

The website, mynewradiostation.com is still up with the options to vote, but without any means to select them.

It's my understanding that the stations that are on Android now had to install new streaming equipment. Will the new version eliminate this need?

I'm glad I didn't update my website when I jumped the gun.

I am at least surprised that they'll have actual voices on the air and not a computer in a closet. That's a lot of scratch for what is essentially a 250 watt translator.

One of my favorite stations is (or was, I think there's a move planned) a college rock outlet on AM. KUOM, the University of Minnesota's student station, is on AM. I tuned in on my last trip through MPLS and it was fun listening. I even called them up and had them play me a really obscure song as I left the coverage area.

whitfm: the licensed power is 130 watts, but the station is operating under an STA that appears to authorize 250 watts from an antenna 413' off the ground on the same tower that WERC-FM is using.

KUOM ("Radio K") now has some pretty decent FM translators, and has now positioned them to complement each other in Mpls and St. Paul, in addition to part-time clearance on another school FM station.
