103.1 East Providence

I beleve this may have come up a year or two ago.In East Providence yesterday listening to WODS when something popped on the air killing WODS airing an old show called Flashback. No info on FCC site so I guess its a pirate.

It is a pirate and someone posted a while back that he's around Warren Avenue in EP. You never know what you'll hear. I catch some jazz and blues music too.

It's all the same pirate. He is in East Providence located on a house on Winsor St between Warren Ave & South Broadway.
If you pull into the parking lot of Papa Sam's Pizza on Warren Ave, you can look right up at the FM Dominator antenna on a pole there.

Maybe it's me but I just don't see the point. I'm not advocating running a pirate station at all, but if you're going to do it, then do something other than just replay some syndicated show. At least the guy on 107.7 who isn't afraid of the FCC goes on live.

That 103.1 pirate has been around since @ least 2002 & on different freqs. including 90.1, 90.7 & 102.1. It's annoying as hell! This is one pirate I wish they'd shut down permanently. As for 107.7, the N.A.L. was for someone who used to be on WALE.

There is another one in the area of Branch Ave and Hawkins St in Providence. Don't know what frequency yet; but any Boston station is getting crushed out with interference (as well as static on 99.7 & 103.7).

107.7. They've been there for a while now. After the 107.7 in Pawtucket off of Newport Ave got shut down over a year ago.

Providence used to have several pirates.
90.1 / 96.7 both were on the air from the North Providence/Providence line on the same house, 104.3 was originally on 107.9 from the Broad St area near 96.5. 107.7 as mentioned above. They all shut down after getting NOUOs from the FCC.

Currently outside of 103.1 in EP, and 107.7 on Branch Ave,
90.7 WXIN at Rhode Island college is operating at pirate levels. They claim to be a Part 15, but they are putting out way too much power to be a part 15 operation. (You can hear them from Johnston to East Providence in a car radio, far exceeding the range of a Part 15). DWRJI 91.5 has been operating occasionally illegally too from their studios in Providence, too.
