103.1 has another sta to remain off the air

I will translate this to "No buyers have come forward with enough money to buy license and build the translator.

Yet another STA filed to remain off the air. Is there a limit on how many of these that can be filed? Don't they have to build out and go on the air at some point to retain the license? I thought it was once a year at least. They have had a STA for off the air since March 2012 and I don't think the station actually ever existed in any form or location.

when you look at the file, there is a letter from the FCC stating they have until July x (can't remember the date) 2014 to get on the air or the license is gone,,I just don't understand how they have that much time,,I was thinking it was the first of the year when the clock would have been up on them

I saw this thread earlier and meant to reply sooner...so here goes. The CP which authorized the move to Memphis was granted 09/06/12. The authorization can be found here: http://licensing.fcc.gov/prod/cdbs/pubacc/Auth_Files/1494768.pdf

Whether it's right to keep filing those STA's (and getting FCC approval) doesn't really matter. They have three years from the date of the grant to get the thing on air.
