103.1 the buzz

Did anyone check out the horrible ratings the new 103.1 now got. The buzz was consistently in the 2.4 to 2.5 range in the palm beach market. And in the treasure coast market was around 4.3. The new now has a 1.7 share in the west palm market. it is the lowest west palm channel and is even lower than many channels from the miami market that reach southern palm beach county. It has no niche since 95.5 top 40, 97.9 Hot AC, and 102.3X R and B covers pop music completely. Of course the niche of people who would listen to active/modern rock are out of luck. You would think the treasure coast and palm beach could sustained a well marketed active rock station. I understand the demographic difference in the miami dade and broward market. I think CBS messed up on this one. But they probably won't fix it.

And now after killing the Buzz, CBS is abandoning their west palm stations altogether. The question is, will the company who owns WRMF and bought all 5 CBS stations decide to bring the buzz back? According to FCC rules, they must sell two of the 5 stations, and 103.1 is definitely the lowest. I just hope they keep the Buzz HD2 on one of the channels. It seems to be doing very well despite it's small market. Buzz fans will always remain true blue.
