103.1 Translator on the air

Fed by WGRI-AM 1050. 75 watts. Not bad but WRAC is hurting it on the east side and in Kentucky. Too bad they didn't go with the 99 watt CP, but I get that the antenna was already there. Probably not worth it to build the custom antenna, but those extra watts would have helped to the south.

Still better than Praise 1230's translator at 101.5. Don't know why they leave the stereo pilot on. It hurts the signal.

103.1 comes in surprisingly good in Fairfield. I can't hear 101.5, but it sure destroys Dayton's Hank FM. It might be time for a directional antenna.

Bill and JS.... Some questions:
Do you mean 1230s translator on 105.1?
Do you mean our stereo generator on 103.1?
Yes, we were stuck diplexing with K Loves directional antenna. We would have had to find a different spot on the tower to hand a non d FM antenna. I really don't think most would notice the extra 15 watts. Now, if we could have gotten 250 watts, non d, from that height, we could cover the market like a Class A. Hey, if it does really well, i might consider trying to improve it a bit. We were fairly certain that this would do a better job than Radio Ones Translator is doing, just because of our tower height.
At any rate, thanks for the reception reports.

The translator for 1230 is at 101.5. I don't think it's at its full potential. I see a lot of room for upgrade, unless somebody else makes a move that prevents it. The spot on top of that little AM tower is not high enough. Too bad, because I think that could have been a great signal. They can't do more than 99 watts because 90.9 is their IF, but they could do some more height for sure. Turning on the stereo pilot is also a mistake. Picket fences like crazy and can barely hear it on I-75. Kind of a waste. 103.1 is OK, as I said, but at that low power every watt helps. It suffers along I-275 in Kenton County. Can't quite get over the hill. I'm sure it would have been expensive to build the custom tower and find another spot. Maybe fill in the east side with 103.9?
