Still not (in my mind) enough of a change. But definitely a step in the right direction.I heard that today as well, and 103.5 is still going by Kool 103. I guess their owners finally realized they needed to have a difference in the names like we talked about here.
Nothing that I can find.Sounds like they did some tweaking, maybe dropping 60s, as they were doing 60s, 70s and 80s ten years ago.
Do these stations have an online presence? I can't find any, other than some old links to where they may have streamed at one time.
That version peaked in the #31 position in the 80s. Some people would call their choices of songs eclectic. I'd call it "We like it so we're playing it". Kind of like Gerald's entire ownership. His toy, his rules. Always done it his way.103.1 is playing more stuff that weren't big hits that I haven't heard in years. Yesterday I heard them play Ghost Riders in the Sky by the Outlaws. Was that ever a big hit? They definitely don't always play the hits from the decades they cover, and it had been that way to some extent before the changes.
That almost sounds like Jack FM's slogan of Playing what we want. That version peaked in the #31 position in the 80s. Some people would call their choices of songs eclectic. Do they play anything that sounds like it could have been a local hit back in the day? I remember that stations used to do that before playlists got so tight. That almost sounds like Jack FM's slogan of Playing what we want.
In listening in recent weeks I've heard more stuff I haven't heard in years, but I actually like it most of the time. I'd guess most of the stuff like borderline elevator music they played in the past is on 103.5 now.
Yes some of it was songs that were a local hit at one time, but don't get played in normal oldies or classic hits formats. I couldn't name any particular songs though.Do they play anything that sounds like it could have been a local hit back in the day? I liked those songs, because they always gave stations a certain "character" that maybe other stations didn't have. I have managed to find a few 45s of songs like these (almost always on indie labels) on ebay. Probably still a few others like those out there that I would also like to find.Yes some of it was songs that were a local hit at one time, but don't get played in normal oldies or classic hits formats.
