103-3 Spin FM

AWP and Carolina Radio, and others interested in a fresh new sound - Tune to 103.3fm M-F, 6p-6a (6a-9a also online exclusive) and see what you think of 103-3 Spin FM. It is only part-time but there isn't a fresher sound of the hits (or radio in general for that matter.) We start with a nod toward hot ac early evening then slide to mainstream hits then mixing in some rhythmic and such later on. It's mixed versions of today's hits of the various format leans - non stop and beat to beat. We also air retro versions (70's/80's/90's) of Spin between brokers during the mid-day as well as Country Spin FM on Sundays. Just another button to push and see what you think. The on-line version can be heard at www.wolt-fm.com if you're out of the coverage area. New website coming soon! (Currently like a website from 1974 online- but it's accurate and it works!)

Thanks. I do remember seeing the earlier thread about WOLT, but quite honestly, have been forgetting to check it out as most of my radio listening is during morning, lunch and afternoon rush hours. Re-reading that thread, the brokering concept is different. Just wish the "Spin" part was 24/7.

Either way, hope it's doing well for you.

BTW, my laptop at work won't stream it, unfortunately.

Think of it, in our case - WOLT, as live on-air market testing for a new presentation of Hot AC, CHR, Rhythmic, retro shows and Hot Country formats. The Greenville-Spartanburg market is the first in the nation to hear this set as a format. Quite a coo as it will be popping up somewhere in the country soon. Get Winamp (http://www.winamp.com/media-player/en ), if you don't have, free version is fine. And enter www.wolt-fm.com/wolt.m3u in the open url file dropdown. Should work like a charm.

I've heard it late at night and thought it sounded better than Hot 98.1 (terrible rhythmic CHR), if you want to compare them. I have to listen to it online at home (I have bad interference from 103.1 in Honea Path), I'll listen some more and let you know what I think. I liked the classic hits format at night as well, but with 97.7, I guess it can be done without.

Got to listen to it as well after 11 p.m. last night and at that point, it was a bit too rhythmic for my liking. Don't know about the earlier evening.

Wanted to add to my earlier post as it probably didn't come out quite as clear. I listened again this afternoon and I actually do like most of the music the Spin part plays - especially playing some things you don't often hear around here like Goyte and newer Foster the People. But the issue for me is that 90% of the tracks you play are "dance' mixes. So when I say "rhythmic" that's what I'm really referring to. Other stations, like B93.7 and, especially Hot 98.1, are pretty rhythmic but I'm referring in those cases more to the urban rhyhmic songs. Here, you don't seem to play a whole lot of the more urban songs. That I like. But the dance mixes get a bit old after a while. It's very much like Channel 96.1's "mix at six" where you even hear something like Adele's "Someone Like You" spun into a dance beat. I enjoy it, but it's a little overkill when most of the playlist is filed with dance mixes.

But that's probably what you're going for is more of a "party" sound. I'll definately keep it programmed - particuarly to hear some new material not on other stations. Just not something I could listen to all the time.

I like it! Just need a signal.... a transmitter closer to Greenville or one that doesn't come in a plain brown wrapper from China. :D

I say a flyer promoting a big Hip-Hop concert at Bi-Lo Center stating it was the launch event for 103.3 Spin FM. Is this station going Hip-Hop and R&B 24/7?

Incidentally, while I'm here....If you, or someone you know, is not quite ready for sleigh bells or needs an occasional break - we're Spinnin' the hits now 9am-2pm and 6pm-6am M-F. Also, for online listeners from 6a-9am. It's worth a listen when Manilow comes on or Manheim or Peggy Lee...etc. egad. www.1033SpinFM.com
