103.5 KISSFM - What the hell?

Well, Tik Tak and the Freak Show is apparently back on the air from 4-8 at WKSC.

Ummm... WTF?

Being CONSISTANT is a big deal in radio, especially in the heat of a battle such as the one KISS is waging with B96. Let's see, we hire a new afternoon show, pretend to fire our afternoon show, bring them back saying it was all a stunt, fire them for good a week later, bring them back a month later, re-shuffling the airstaff over and over again. If I'm the average listener - hell, even a radio geek like myself who's following the situation - I'm mad confused as to what the hell is going on.

KISSFM is obviously in some turmoil, as evidenced by these bizarre changes, the firing of Rod Phillips, etc...they are handing listeners to B96! Makes me wonder if the reason the Freak Show got canned in the first place is Phillips himself? I don't even know what to think anymore. What a fiasco.

Whole station has become a disaster. I can barely stand to listen anymore. And I was the one who was sitting up all night long listening and posting about automation crashes/etc.

Nothing against Tic Tak & The Freak Show. They are probably the best talent the station has.

I doubt Kiss FM is handing listeners back to B 96 because B 96 is doing just as good of a job of turning them away too! LOL!

I think this might be the first time Ive ever heard of anyone being REHIRED after being fired right before a management change. Normally people are scared they will lose their jobs, not get them back :-D.


Consistancy is important, but if you can't even get the sound of your station right, it means Jack. (sorry, pun intended) Consistancy doesn't help you if your station is consistantly BAD. That was the old kiss FM.

Bad processing.
voicetracks that sound like a telephone.
DJs that sound completely out of place in the format.

The new kiss FM has already begun to address these things, to their credit. The quality is better (still not great, but better), although in making these changes it has lost its identity. I hope they are able to fix this.

The MAIN PROBLEM they are facing, however, is that is has sounded so bad for so long, that it may be well beyond fixing.

I think they should drop the "Kiss" name all together and re image with a new name like "Z 103-5" or "Channel 103-5" or something like that.

Fresh everything

probably won't do any good but its an idea.

And pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese someone fix the processing. Its like fingernails on a chalk board.

Do the math. Rod Phillips was being consulted by Steve Perun. Rod Phillips fires "The Freak Show." Rod Phillips gets fired. Steve Perun gets hired. Hires "Freak Show" back.

Man is making changes over there.

And people are buzzing. Aren't they? Made you and others stand up and think about it!

Frequency has gone thru good and bad, mostly bad, a lot of baggage like ZZN went thru. Changing calls, and slogans might not be a good idea. Here is one good thing for research to determine. Believe it or not, "KISS" might have some value in it. And it is not like the station is pulling a one share, so taking the name away might not be a good thing, unless the station underwent a format change or tweak to another direction.

KISS has been pulling ahead with no effort as overall their numbers have been down same time as B's are. Steve is a pro. If he can't make this happen until a perm PD is picked out, very few can.<P ID="signature">______________

Well, with no internal power struggle, it's full steam ahead for Perun and Co. There are many different positive changes from my analysis of the station, even some minute ones, but very interesting, nonetheless. <P ID="signature">______________

This has happen before. In every Market he has been in. Inside sources tell me that his old Executive Producer came up with things in the past. This happen in every market he is in. Give it Time he will be gone for good in a year to take his show on the road AGAIN. Las Vegas, Texas, Dayton, Detroit,New Mexico, Philly, Pittsburgh, Back to Detroit. And Now Chi-town. Where to next?
