103.5 moving to Gulfport

Thanks for the updated info! Yes, power, tower, antenna height, and studio location remains the same. Not that it matters that much, but it looks like they're going from a full "C" to a "C0" classification. Doesn't that mean less protection for WFUS when it comes to adjacent stations and other lower powered facilities? I wish someone closer to the situation could shed some light on the reasoning.

Doing this will probably allow some other CC facility either co or adjacent channel to upgrade. My question is that as long as it was licensed to Bradenton, it was counted as a Sarasota market station. I wonder what if any will the impact be on how many stations they can own in the Tampa St. Pete market.

Someone may correct me if I'm wrong, but ever since the frequency was changed from 103.3 to 103.5 and the antenna moved to the Riverview tower, 103.5's primary and market designation is the "Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater" DMA. Even if the city of license is "Bradenton", it's always followed by the market name it belongs too. Same goes for WSJT (Lakeland/Winter Haven is no longer the primary DMA, tower is near Ft Lonesome), WLLD (antenna in Seminole), and even WHPT, who some think is still is a "Sarasota" radio station. Ownership limits have not changed. Both CBS and Clear Channel have had the maximum allowed 5 FMs in Tampa for quite some time. (Cox gets away with 6 due to the fact the stronger signal contours of 97.1 and 102.5 don't overlap) Clear Channel still retains the maximum 4 FMs in Sarasota/Bradenton. This COL change to Gulfport doesn't change the numbers.

In a related matter, Radio-Locator also lists a construction permit granted last fall for 95.7. Gives them permission to move the antenna from the tower on Gandy to the AM 680 stick behind Derby Lane. Same height, power, and class. What's that all about?

Probably costs less than renting space on the Snug Harbor tower.

Funny thing is, when Metroplex owned 95.7, they built that big, self-suppporter at Snug Harbor. As soon as it was done, they turned around and un-loaded it to American Tower (I think... memory is a little fuzzy these days.) Not sure what the inside looks like now, but it was a nice facility.
