Hank,

I got you covered. Email me directly at [email protected] and I'll hook you up, as the kids say.

Please remove NO-SPAM from the email address, of course.

Supposedly, the playlist was chosen by the listeners who could call KLOK and vote thumbs up or thumbs down on the songs after they were played. It was always curious to me that their playlist started out as syrupy EXTREMELY light rock (for example: Barry Manilow, but just the slow ballads,"Mandy," but not "At the Copa...",etc.) and managed to morph into mainstream soft-rock hits after a year or so...more like KOIT. I guess their listeners collectively changed their minds. Either that, or the PD ignored the votes. You think?

The votes did not count at all at KLOK..it was just a "stunt", and not a very good one.

Maybe Clear Channel should reinstate the KLOK-FM call letters, but only this time with a Classic MOR format. I remember 1170 KLOK-AM in San Jose was an MOR station in the 1970's. They would have to buy the call letters first!

With KOSF hitting the Top 10 in January, I'd guess CC will probably be happy sticking with "The New 103.7" (is it just me, or is it weird that they still occasionally use the word Oldies here and there? It's like they have one toe in Oldies with a foot in Classic Hits).

103.7 in SF has gone through a boatload of calls it seems. When I lived there (mid-late 60's) it was KGO-FM, an automated Rock station. KLOK was an AMer from down the peninsula and had a soft "tick-tock" sound in the background in between songs. We could not get KLOK too well in Marin County though so it wasn't all that popular.

The only reference I hear about Oldies is when they announce their web site. Although, when you go to www.oldies1037.com it redirects to www.sf1037.com, and there is no mention whatsoever of Oldies on their site.
