Late on a Friday, when they know it won't make news until until Monday morning, figures...

My question is, what kind of people were exiting. If it was the entire staff including programmers, that might mean something (and boy I wonder what).

On the other hand, if they let go 3 on-air people, and everyone else remained, than I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

AFAIK, if I ran a station like KPLN, I can't imagine there'd be anywhere to go formatwise. All the formats in San Diego are covered. And in some cases, over covered. In some cases (like Urban music) a bit over covered. In others, (like Star or Jack) it's a niche format. And why would I cover Oldies?

We can't speculate as to what or whether 103.7 will drop classic rock. But I personally can't imagine a format that's available, except maybe FM talk?

I got the same thing today in the scoops e-mail box.
No indication whether it was resignation or termination,
but that's not important. I guess the person did ...
Planet ... that way.

I would think FM Talk...think about their sister station in LA --KLSX

Who's gone besides Todd Little???

How about another"Soft AC"or similar kind of radio station?

Hurban swings very young and is kind of on XHMORE... and the alternative reggaetón format may not be as stong on the border, for some reason. No one has done it in Mexico yet, and Mexico is the only place the music is not selling very well.

Huh?
If you were Infinity SD, why would you make 103.7 Soft AC when you also own Kyxy which soft AC?
In fact, when 103.7 was KJoy, the company that owned Kyxy (SFX) bought 103.7 and got rid of the KJoy format for classic rock.

Your suggestion suggest that you were not aware that they had the same owner?

Todd Little was let go?
Who reported that?

Re: JM To Fly too?

Looks like a really bad book for the Planet.
I guess oldies only formats here are a dying breed, and in this
day and age of satellite and Internet radio, I don't see any
new formats based on a few decades only in the past to debut
and succeed anymore (other than as a niche on the non-terrestrial
mediums).

I feel the prescence of Darth Vader over The Planet.

But IIRC 106.9 will be mainstream (going against KGO, KSFO, KNEW) rather than a Leykis-ruled hub for men 18-34.

Vinyl Resting Place for 103.7?

I hope that 103.7 is not the Vinyl Resting Place for JM on the FM in the PM ... and others. <P ID="signature">______________

I wonder what it means for KFMB AM?
Remember, 103.7 is owned by the same people as CBS News. I believe that KFMB AM is now ABC radio news. Since that's the case, will 103.7 be running CBS News atop the hour now? As a rusult of being displaced by Fox on CCU's talk stations, CBS News is popping up in many new places now, even here in Lubbock, a new radio station was able come on with CBS News.

There's also talk about Infinity doing FM talk Boston, and they even signed a talk show host who will go sydicated soon.

So even if it is just talk about talk in San Diego, it seems Infinity is getting ready to sure up their talk presence in other places.

Ok, sorry for the rambling...
