103.7 translator

I had a question: Is there much interest at KAZM 780 for an FM translator at 103.7 ? They have good local stuff on 780, but that signal sure is weak and then at night non-existent more than ten miles from Sedona... They also carry ASU Football and local KYCA 1490 is the puniest 1000 watt signal - it barely covers the Prescott city limits. :-[
The bottom line here is, can the outlying areas of Yavapai County get KAZM or KYCA at night?
KYCA should have a bundle of money to upgrade the 1000 watt transmitter / tower with cash cow KAHM FM as its bank of funds.

Anything is possible. Although KZGL is a C3 in Flagstaff @ 103.7 which doesn't have very good reach in some areas of Sedona, and I know that 103.7 down the Verde Valley is hit and miss unless you have a good radio. On the other side of Mingus for Prescott, 103.7 again is hit and miss from the tower up here in Flagstaff. Also there are no requested Translator CP's on the FCC web site for the 103.7 frequency in Northern Az.

What kind of radio are using to listen to KAZM? It has a very strong signal reaching clearly into Flagstaff and beyond and south, clearly in Prescott, Chino Valley and to almost Phoenix - in the early morning hours I have picked it up as far south as Guaymas, Son. MX and north at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. It comes in well in Jerome all night on reduced power, I doubt if it gets past Mingus Mountain.

My basic question had to deal with the rather poor AM reception in Yavapai County which is nearly zero at night in the Chino Valley / Prescott Valley vicinity. Some AM stations have started using FM translators to gain coverage. 780 KAZM would be a great place to start. Their management has mostly ignored my question by e-mail and by telephone. They don't feel it is broken; so don't mess with it??
The second station I mentioned was KYCA 1490 in Prescott. Hands down, that 1000 watt non-directional signal must be the most inefficient broadcast station that still turns a profit.
They are such a mess once the sun goes down. Every other 1000 watt 1490 signal hits PV / Chino Valley with nearly as much signal. KYCA even admits that they have "zones" where their 1490 just dies completely. We are talking less than 15 miles from the rusty 60 year old tower in town.
With the cash cow KAHM as a sister station, you would think money would not be a problem for some improvements? Thanks for letting me rant... ;) :-*
