103.7 using their AUX in the afternoons

I guess KIOL has been running their AUX in Baytown in the afternoons lately..driving in the BMT area in the afternoons the last 2 days, their signal has been going away (it did one morning after 10am....but you could still hear the signal..weak but definitely not off the 2000ft main).....Must be doing some antenna or tower work in Devers (wonder if the African bees are back on the tower?? Really...they had a serious problem with them a while back with a hive living right on a girder at the bottom of the tower!!! The bees chased the elevator car up about 300-400ft on the tower)..Has anyone in west side or SW side noticed any difference? I was told today 103.7 in Corpus was booming into BMT this afternoon and KVIL was heard once or twice recently!

My memory isn't what it used to be so I could very well be wrong, but...I thought that KFNC's AUX site was in Baytown and that KIOL's AUX antenna was located on the FM 1410 tower just below their MAIN.

KIOL had a CP issued BMXPH-20061205ADW in Dec 2006 for an AUX on the same tower as KFNC's aux in Baytown (it would only make sense). They DO have an aux antenna on the Devers tower and it had a CP issued in 05...but no license issued...and if they DO have to work on the main tower/antenna, switching to the AUX on the same tower makes tower work a little hazardous (never thought that was good on a rimshot..if the tower falls or gets damaged, then what?) The Dallas stations found that out in 96 when the 39 tower fell......a separate site makes much more sense...

I live & work in Livingston, TX & normally get 103.7 clearest of all... Yesterday & today signal was horrid.

This morning it was great until after the last traffic report (about 8:30am) and then I heard some weird advert for a new radio station?

Anyone else? Then this afternoon signal seemed ok?

Good move by Cumulus to set up the aux for KIOL (and KFNC) in Baytown, but I don't see where a license to cover was granted for either one of them. Maybe I'm missing something here, but do you think instead of them just using the aux while working on the Devers tower they might also be doing work at the Baytown site lately?

Speaking of 103-7

I was out in Humble yesterday, had KIOL on listening to W & J the signal was horrible, lots of drift but I kept hearing delayed audio underneath as the signal would drift. Anyone else get that? Why would that happen?

A close friend told me tonight he got it confirmed at a SBE meeting; they are testing the new aux in Baytown...but its a backup to the backup on Devers but they want to see it running ok...Sure enough, its on tonight....KOUL out of Corpus is blasting away into the far east side and BPT area. but then the band is open tonight too...
