103.9 FM in Newburgh area?

I'm hearing WAMC translated on 103.9 FM in the Newburgh area? They don't identify it in that long top of the hour ID. Anyone know where the translator is located?

I know they have been at 107.7 for sometime. I would wonder why they would move...wouldnt that interfere with WFAS out of Westchester which can be picked up here in Orange? At 107.7 they were on their own...closest station at that frequency is 107.7 from Albany.

WAMC is still on 107.7 as well. Pretty soom the entire FM dial will be WAMC, the Sound of Life and Star 99.1. LOL

I'm getting WAMC on 103.9 as well in Newburgh. Though it's on 107.7 so what's the point having in on 103.9 also???

I never understood why the sound of life is on 94.1 AND 106.5 in Newburgh.

Now I cant get WFAS anymore and classic hits 103.7 has tons of bleed from 103.9 and also Power 104.1 in Hartford is impossible to get now.

I don't know if the 103.9 signal is the translator CP for Beacon, 10 watts, directional West to cover Beacon, Newburgh and New Windsor from Mt. Beacon. Very little signal going to the rest of Dutchess County.

According to FCC database, the CP is owned by Susan Clinton and not WAMC. Also, strange it isn't ID'd in the WAMC top-of-hour. So maybe not this CP.

Riding around Poughkeepsie the other day I was getting something fighting with WFAS-103.9, but maybe just WKHV-Kingston, or perhaps WQBK-Rensselaer. I'm going to do some more listening.

I'm still not sure about this 103.9 signal... I have heard it on the car radio around Poughkeepsie, especially on the Salt Point Turnpike near "The Gables" and "K&D Deli", where it overrides WFAS and WQBK. It's probably the Beacon translator CP, which is still owned by Susan Clinton and not WAMC. It is not listed on the WAMC website. Maybe the translator is testing with WAMC, and will carry something else when licensed.

Meanwhile, tonight I stumbled on another new WAMC signal, and this one is on 107.1 from Warwick, call letters W296BD, running 10 watts. This one is owned by WAMC, and is listed on their web site. I don't know how long it's been on the air, but it comes in fairly well at home near Poughkeepsie on a souped up tuner with outside antenna aimed at Orange County.

The signal comes in clear in Beacon. When I first heard the Newburgh 103.9 on my Sony CD Player, I, at first assumed it was WFAS-FM, which I thought was odd, since as far as I knew it has never come in like a local station in Dutchess County. But, the more I listened, I knew it wasn't WFAS.

I'm hearing a Religious station on 98.7 mixing in with WRKS in Newburgh.

anyone know what this station is?

These little small stations need to go. Most of the FM dial stations don't even come in crystal clear and into the offices.

The 98.7 station is translator W254BM licensed to Poughkeepsie, and located in Highland, realying WRDR "The Bridge" from New Jersey, which is also carried on WJUX-99.7 in Monticello. The 98.7 translator has been on the air over a month now, killing WRKS around Poughkeepsie.

As of this morning (6/14), the Bridge translator has moved from 98.7 to 98.3. So WRKS is back on the dial! WRKS was actually interferring a bit with "The Bridge" right in Poughkeepsie, so this may be the reason for the move. The application for the frequency change was filed just last week. The translator still carries "The Bridge".

I wonder if the signal on 98.3 will cause problems on 98.1 for some WKZE listeners in Poughkeepsie.

does anyone even listen to the religious stations?

Star 94.1 and 106.5 need to go in Newburgh. Why does a central New Jersey station have translators up the Hudson Valley? Who cares about the traffic and weather about 150 miles away????

While I noticed no actual bleed on to 98.1 WKZE there is some new choppiness to their signal in Hyde Park and the East side of Poughkeepsie, although along the Hudson River may be another matter. I haven’t been down that way since the change. I also noticed that WKZE was coming in in Mono.
