103.9 KDJK signal not as powerful as before. Anyone noticed?

I noticed KDJK 103.9 signal does not reach as far south as it used to. (About a year ago). In fact, it was Mother's Day 2007 when I noticed the change. I heard that the transmitter fell down and since then, it's never been the same as before in terms of output.

Merced is over 100 miles from Sacramento, this needs to be on the Central California Board.

Sorry, don't know what is considered the cut-off between Central Calif. and Sacramento listening areas in terms of this board. I do know KDJK 103.9 serves Merced, but it is owned by a Modesto station. Besides, the Sacramento section on this board is labeled "Sacramento and Central Valley." Merced and Modesto is in the Central Valley. Right???

Modesto and Stockton are outside markets and usually are talked about in the Central California Board. Merced is also very close to Fresno. The media in Fresno usually refers to the region there as Central California. In Sacramento, the region is usually Northern California.

Just because the people set up the board with Central California as (everything market Bakersfield which is Market 78), Most all of the talk on that board is: Fresno, Bakersfield, Stockton, Modesto, Merced and the Monterey Bay.

The Sacramento board is used mostly by people discussing stations in the Sacramento Region.

I can see where you got that by the header in the market, but that's not how they been historically used. Also, since you were talk about KDJK's signal south of Merced, you were even further away.

Sacramento radio listening is simply the Sacramento area. KHOP/KDJK don't have much listening in the Sacramento market.

It used to have a great signal to the area it serves. Not lately. If you live in Mariposa or Merced it's pretty good. Madera....forgetaboutit!!!!

This is something that has always bugged me about the way this board is set up. The two boards you refer to are labeled as:

Central California
For discussion of radio in Bakersfield.

and

Sacramento
For discussion of radio in Sacramento and the central valley.

You are correct in that most people posting in regards to Modesto radio do so on the Central Valley board, however anyone who has worked in Modesto and especially Stockton, is far more likely to consider their location a submarket to Sacramento rather than a sister market to Bakersfield, or even Fresno. Perhaps this is due to metro/tsa designations by Arbitron. Either way, by all rights in the way this site is organized, Modesto posts do belong on the Sacramento board. Similarly, here in L.A. many posters for Riverside/San Bernardino stations post on the LA board.

Having worked in both Modesto and Fresno, I understand that what happens in Modesto/Stockton is probably of minor interest to someone in Sac, however what is happening in Sac is definately, significantly of more interest to someone in Modesto/Stockton than what's going on in Fresno...or especially Bakersfield. Many Sacramento and Modesto signals reach both markets. The same is not true with Modesto & Fresno.

Because the Central Valley is so huge, some revised labeling or sublistings may help. The Central Calif board should clearly list Fresno instead of-or in addition to Bakersfield.

To bring this full circle, KDJK - 103.9 is in reality serving as a translator rebroadcasting KHKK 104.1 - Modesto and therefore could be posted on whichever board Modesto belongs.
